@@K.Nathan They look different to me, so I am not sure what gave you the idea. Katha kali was traditionally danced by men to narrate stories from the puranas in temple festivals. Mohiniattam is traditionally danced by women and takes its inspiration from the Mohini avatar of Vishnu, if I remember correctly.

BhaRaTaNatyam:- Bha- short for Bhava that means emotions. Ra- short for Raga i.e. melody Ta- tala i.e. beats or rhythm Natyam- natya means acting/drama. The Indian Classical dance forms are focussed not only on the dance but the drama and the story as well. The hand movements, tribhanga pose, eye movements and facial expressions all showcase something different. Bharatnatyam is just one of Indian classical dance forms, there is Kathak (North), Kuchipudi (Andhra), Mohiniyattam (Kerala), Odissi(Odisha), Manipuri (Manipur North East)!

Barathanatyam (or also called baratham) is a dance from my state TN and close to my heart. The dance is beautiful in its artistry and presentation even for the untrained eye. But it exponentially increases once you start decoding the meaning of the 'mudras' or gestures and their storytelling. Indian classical music and dances are very artistic & so deep that at some extent it transforms itself into something spiritual and dancer becomes the dance....singer becomes the song....it's like their being(existence ) unites with the ultimate existence. ...Indian classical music and dances are just the ways....no measurement of its depth!

Always fascinated by the Indian classicals!!! In Bharatnatyam particularly what fadcinates me more is the thing that they move their feet at a speed of the Tabla being played. So, you can imagine how fast they'd be doing that. Thanks for the reaction guys!!

@Sandeep Mehta Bhai life me insecurities hoti hai tabhi banda aise sochta hai. Jis din tu kuch achieve kar lega, tujhe doosro ko appreciate karne me "gaand chatne" vaali feeling nahi aayegi. Khud ecstatic hoga to durso ko positivity dene me sochega nahi. Chill kar tere comments dekhe hai kayi bar, sab toxic. Mostly kisi actor ko gaali de raha hota hai (Aamir, Priyanka, etc sabko gaali bak chuka hai) ya kisi ke comment karne vale ko criticize. Get some life dude, go out. Internet tujhe negative bana raha hai. Bhai samajh ke keh raha hu.

@Sandeep Mehta Lol the most delusional comment I've ever seen 😂 Aur apne saare comments ko khud hi like bhi kar rha 😂 Naya piece hai tu. Sahi hai 👍 I find Aamir believable in almost all the movies he does but not Priyanka because of her accent. I appreciate these guys because they've come out of tough times, they're doing something to fend themselves, and they are good people. Their videos have helped many in tough times as well. Everyone judges through their own experience, what they've seen in life. Opinions are subjective. Bc har bande ka opinion internet pe apne jaisa banayega? 😂 "Get a life". Dam hai is phrase me. Samajhne vaale samajh jaate hein.

Odissi belongs to my State Odisha. There are dances belong to certain Regions and States. Other Classical Dances are : Kucchipudi , Bharat Natyam , Kathakali, Kathak, Mohininatyam etc. Most of the Songs/dances are depicted to Lord Shiva and Parvati or Durga. In Odissi Dance, many Dances dedicated to Lord Jagannath (which is quite exceptional only to Odissi). The Most common form of Dance which you should watch are : Shiva Tandava Dance and song as well. Durga Mahishasura Mardini Song/Dance. The Dance moves mostly based on Mythological Stories. But we loosely use the word Mythology, because we believe all are real events. 🙏

Hey.. I was one of d person's who recommended this. This is Bharatnatyam. Lots n lots of discipline n dedication required for this dance form, just like many other Indian classical dance forms. Every performance says a story about our God's, like Shiva, relationship between Radha n Krishna, Krishna n his mom n many others.

Indian classical dances can be equated with musical theater, each posture and hand symbol(called mudras) has a meaning. Those well versed in the language of Indian classical dance can understand those meanings and the story being told. This is the reason why in India dance and music and storytelling are inseparable. P.S. I am not one of those well versed in the language of Indian Classical Dance, but I am interested in learning. Edit: Grammer
