As a Hindu , I felt it to be my duty to tell you about this. The tandav dance is associated with Lord Shiva, the third among the hindu trinity of great Gods, the other 2 being Lord Brahma and Lord Vishnu. The three of them are in charge of the creation, sustenance and destruction of the cosmos, though it would be better to know Shiva as lord of transformation, as he is often associated with the creation that comes out of destruction. Lord Shiva used to perform the tandav when he was very angry (it would be proper to cite here that Lord Shiva is well known for his terrifying rage) . There are very few instances in Hindu Mythology when Lord Shiva did this dance , I personally know only three of them. But whenever he would do it, the condition of the cosmos would be terrifying, with horrible lightning, volcanoes erupting, tsunamis occurring etc. Another thing associated with his terrible rage is the opening of his third eye, which is located vertically on the centre of his forehead. And the thing you are calling a song is actually a Sanskrit hymn, known as Shiv Tandav Stotram which was composed by Ravana, a great devotee of Shiva. The composition of this hymn too has an interesting story - Ravana was a demon (Asura) by race but had acquired great strength and miraculous powers from lord Shiva due to his devotion. These powers made Ravana egoistic and he went to Mount Kailash, the abode of Lord Shiva and his wife Goddess Parvati. To show off his powers, Ravana single handedly lifted the entire mountain !! At that point Lord Shiva decided too break his pride and increased the weight of the mountain by stamping down with a single foot. Ravana's hands couldn't take that weight and were crushed under the mountain. At that point Ravana composed this hymn - the Shiv Tandav Stotram and sang it to Lord Shiva in order to please him. A satisfied Shiva lifted his foot off the ground and drew back his hands. Thanks a lot to everyone who patiently read this comment till the end 😊😊. May God bless you all and hope you liked the info.

I really appreciate and thank youtubers like you people who are making India’s precious culture and tradition more popular in the world. Indians are beginning to adopt the ways of westerners or other foreign practices and forgetting their own treasured culture. When I see a foreigner appreciate and enjoy Indian music/dance or culture I feel so proud, but that’s not the case for all Indians. Most of my friends from school, don’t appreciate indian classical dance/music and are more attracted to Bollywood or hip hop (any other dance style/singing genre). I just feel so happy and proud to be an indian as I finally understand the amazing qualities and the effect it has on the person listening/watching after learning Kathak and Karnatic music for more than 8 years. It took me so long because I was also listening to my classmates and I was a dumb kid then 😂. Seeing you people enjoy and discuss about it makes me understand that, worship of god through music and dance can be appreciated by anyone, irrespective of their nationality, culture or race. An analogy to Shiv in science is Black hole. He destroys everything when angry. So most of the time he does meditation to remain calm. He is this angry because he drank poison to save humanity from it, which embeds anger in him.
