Carly are not a good company to associate with. having purchased (outright) in good faith, for real money, one of these black boxes. i’m now faced with a monthly subscription for life. this was not the deal when i bought it. plenty of other non subscription devices out there. don’t be sucked in by Carly, it’s not worth the thousands of bucks you’d have to shell out to continue to use it meaningfully. Tim, move on from Carly asap..

25:00 the Chinese tablet is overlaying its own parking lines and also the camera has a set of parking lines. There is a loop on the camera harness about 2 feet from the camera that you need to cut in order to eliminate one set of parking lines. They are redundant.

10:35 it’s a good idea to have a soft cloth that you can lay the radio on so you don’t scratch anything on the center console. These radios have very sharp corners.

I think if you want the weather with it’s correct location,the gps/gsm aerial as part of the additional leads you have in the kit (left on the table) will need to be fitted to the screen or the additional harness connected to the radio you’ve already installed.

Defiently a pat on the back, for many attempting a DIY headunit and rearview camera install is quite donting but with some common sense, good instructions, and of course the correct parts these type of installs are quite doable. Always enjoyed doing these type of upgrades to my vehicles.

Android Auto/Carplay makes such a difference in these E82 cars - I recently did a similar video but chose the lower position - doesn't block your view and easy to reach the touch screen

The nice thing about the audio system in this car is you can install a Audiotec-Fischer components and all the components from the speakers to the amplifier with DSP are plug and play. Even the harness is plug and play.

Nice install! Missed one important step before taking dash apart: disconnect battery… pain in the ass when wanting to test working order when some steps are done, but will prevent possible annoying errors.

22:02 use a cordless Dremel tool with an extension shaft, and carefully trim the plastic structure of the dashboard under the foam. That’s where your clearance problem lies. That’s safer than trying to modify the housing of the Chinese tablet.

good buy Shmee, congrats👍.. the first things what I upgraded in my 1M it was Mosselman oil thermostat and Wagner intercooler.. in my opinion its a must, because N54 struggles with overheating.. later suspension, exhaust (I chose not Akra, because of the drone sound)..

I'd highly recommend an ODB splitter, then plug an ODB cable into the headunit via USB OTG. Then purchase MHD and you can monitor everything (boost/pressure/temps/timing etc) on the screen

First mod should be the chargepipe on the N54, I can guarantee you it's leaking now and they can break even on stock boost. Also the IC connections are probably leaking a bit and a new 5" is cheap and good mod to keep intake temps down. For more sound I suggest downpipes and the muffler mod to keep the valve open or go with a new muffler. With stage 2 these thing are so much fun, loads of torque and around 420bhp on pump.

A good idea to make sure you get the correct fasteners back into the right spots is to have a bunch of small ziplock bags, then when you remove the fasteners you write where they’re from on the bag. Then you never lose them, and get them back in the correct places.
