Should I Upgrade to the Ferrari GTC4Lusso?

I'm in the Dolomoties in northern Italy with Ferrari for the launch of the new GTC4Lusso - the replacement to the FF. Taking power from the 6.3l V12 up to 690Cv and reducing 0-100km/h times from 3.7 to 3.4s, the new car packs a sporty punch while enhancing it's GT-style characteristics simultaneously. The day involves plenty of opportunity to put the GTC4Lusso through its paces on mountain roads and learn what it's all about.
In the last 9 months I have driven 8,000 miles in my FF, so naturally this is a very interesting car to me and a big thanks goes to Ferrari for the invitation to join them. The question that remains though, is should I upgrade to it?

D-B-A - Certainly not. It's gorgeous, but not so in white. Certainly floats my boat. Seats 4 adults, it's comfortable, has a decent boot, goes like stink and has that glorious V12 engine. What's NOT to like about any V12 Ferrari? Bar the Daytona. I really do not like the Daytona. Especially if it has the plexiglass covers for the front lights!

Tim, I have been watching your channel for quite a while now from just a bit before the first eurotour and one think I miss from those days was the consistency you had the 12c for a long time and we got to see every thing with that car and how it does in every situation. With the recent changes coming so fast we see a car for a brief time and then we move on to something newer but no time to see how the car does over time. I miss those days and I know those days wont come back but in my personal opinion you should keep the ff you already have 3 or 4 cars coming in. Keep up the good work Tim i appreciate the quality of the videos.

I think the same too! I think the FF front was sharper beautifully designed this GTC4 Lusso keeps the same theme which I'm pleased Ferrari has kept but not quite so well executed, however the tail lights are superbly designed, with smoked twin circular 3D shaped which are better than the FF's.

Your FF has a remarkable interior spec, other than the central 10" screen your FF is much more impressive. I went back to your first look at the FF with Seb & it is just head & shoulders above this. I would imagine that a similar spec in the Lusso might be quite an expensive premium. I'd stay with the FF unless you're going to take an enormous loss by keeping it much longer.

It appears to be a nice car, certainly, in terms of actual car and driving experience. I'm not going to lie, if I had one I'd probably love it. But I just cannot understand why Ferrari puts so many plastic buttons, dials and cheap storage compartments into the interior of a car with this price tag. It's not even the material, plastics can be and appear of very high-quality - but it just doesn't seem to in this car. It feels so off and unfinished. It feels like more money and thoughts went into what makes it a well driving car (which is great), the design and brand name than the small details, it's quite puzzling. Same goes with buttons and dials all over the whole interior for different functions. I just like it a bit more elegant and simple. But Ferrari is certainly not alone with that trend... Either way, if it fits into your investments and you actually see the car as improvement over the FF, go for it. It's certainly going to hold its value and it's certainly just as practical as the FF. Your garage is getting really crowded now though. :p

You might want to give the new Panamera a try as well though. It's not in the same price league, in terms of luxury features and Ferrari 'club' feeling it obviously doesn't compete... but I'm sure it's a nice car for the same job. Of course I wouldn't necessarily want to give up that privilege of having a Ferrari in the garage... but they're still just cars after all. Although I don't know how it'll fare in terms of investment.

I'd say; when it works for you, definitely make the upgrade. And, BTW, the white looks stunning. Better than the blue and red cars that passed by in the video. It defines the shapes and contours so clearly. I would think that, since you love the blue as a signature, you could find a tasteful blue accent wrap scheme that would play off the blue interior and personalize the car just enough to make it your own. Given that you use the FF as basically a utility vehicle for transportation of people, gear etc and the high mileage it would do, I don't know if purchasing a brand new GTC4Lusso would be the way to go. That being said, what a beautiful car! Also, there aren't many options out there...Panamera Turbo with that insane wing maybe or an Audi RS7/RS6.

Hey Shmee, I've been watching you for a few years and I love your videos. Personally, if I had the option, I would upgrade to the GTC4Lusso from an FF. I don't understand why there is so much hate in the comments. I do have one question, do you think the Nissan GT-R is considered a sports car or super car? My friends and I were arguing on how you're supposed to classify a vehicle as a "sportscar" vs "supercar" vs "hypercar" . I'd love to hear your opinion, it'd mean a great deal to me. Thanks!

I've been considering acquiring one, it's been polished in respect to the FF only where it should. However, daring to offer an electrochromic mirror at extra cost on a car this price seems scabby to say the least. Heavenly sound too (not noise!)
