Shmee, you describe the front of most cars as aggressive styling. To be honest, I think the front of this R8 is quite soft and timid. I think Audi could do more to the front styling tbh

I don't think that camera on the windshield wasn't properly mounted. It seemed to have a base rattle as he went over bumps. Other than that Awesome video. The R8 is one of my top 10 dream cars.

Have a 2013 R8, non spyder, and it makes a good daily driver. It's the only supercar that I see that can do both without any issues.

I think the R8 brought supercars to the masses, they are quite common now. There doesn't seem to be anything special about them. If one drove past I probably wouldn't really acknowledge it. But if a McLaren went past it'd certainly grab my attention. Just my opinion!

warren6815 yes, there is a few R8 around my way (north wales), no McLarens. Looking at SoL lambo, I think they thane lost their magic metalness, next to the McLaren and even Sebs lotus, it looks boring. This is just a sensible version of a now boring car.

warren6815 Yeah obviously the R8 is fairly cheap compared to a McLaren or most other super cars and then it‘s one of the best sounding cars in existence in my opinion. Also the R8 is probably the most daily-driveable supercar you can get and I guess that‘s a big reason for people to choose this one resulting in way more R8‘s on the street than others..

It's good that you identified the paradox of the R8. It's more of a driveable supercar than practical. The 911 Turbo or Mercedes GT R are actually more practical.

What I don't like about most open-top-versions of midengined-supercars is that they get rid of the window to display the engine. One of the few exceptions to that is the 430 Spider.

Awesome video again Shmee, I'm a huge fan of the new R8 apart from the dash I liked the older version more personally Only negative point was the interference on the mic got a little annoying after a while but the noise of the car itself made it all worth it... I love the crackles!

Never been a fan of drop tops even though my first car had one. Fun wise on a sunny day sure. Daily life? NO. Hard tops also look better. I see quite a few R8s daily so I would say they do make good daily supercars. 911s still dominate that scene but most non car people would be hard pressed to tell which 911 was the supercar version. Most know the R8 is something different. Awesome vid as always.

I'm more or less over exhaust crackles. They sound as engineered as they are, and this Audi is up among the worst of them in that category. I don't think you'd have to drive many miles in it, before you're able to "sing along" to the crackles. They sounded REALLY pre-programmed.
