Shmiggen - a 3D printed fattie Viggen

This plane I saw first on the KZbin channel "Built Fast" - the owner of which seems to be the most prolific designer of 3D printed EDF planes! - though he seems incapable of doing a right hand circuit ;)
He cranks them out at a phenomenal rate.
This one has been printed using eSun LW-PLA - the body with gyroid 3% infill and the wings with grid 8% infill.
The designs are not the super finished ones that cost so much which have interconnects, use carbon fiber rods for hinges. Rather these are flat faced slices that you manually align by eye.
But as this rather comical Fattie Viggen shows, they are capable of some decent flying.

Well done Caroline, few perfectly. Was great to see all the printing held together on the landing. Looks great in grey. Look forward to see her in the air again 👍🏻

Glad you enjoyed it Chris. I've added some bright yellow stripes on the wings and tail to help with orientation.

Impressive stuff Caroline, those 3d printed planes are already a bit heavy, but that one was even designed to be so! Congrats to your spotter there who I'm nominating for the "Most Yorkshire bloke ever" award ;-)

I saw this one when ye did it on his channel - looked great - I am looking at the Batwing V2 - brillian print, and build - Congratulations on the maiden..

It's my first successful 3D printed plane and I hope to get many more flights on it. It's the 64mm version as that was the size of the spare EDF I had :) Oh, one thing I would say is the upscaled STLs for the 64mm also upsizes the servo holes making it difficult to fit stand '9gm' servos. I had to design and print a support so the servos were held securely.

@@Caroline_Tyler thanks for the info. I use hot glue on the servos so you can use them in any oversized pocket. Thanks again for the video! I’d like to offer you a free file because of the video. I highly recommend the F4D Skyray. It’s the easiest to fly edf on earth

Omg what went wrong with the spaghetti?!! That’s pretty amazing just “printing” a plane! Great first flight!! I thought was gonna crash it dipped after he lobbed it 😅. Look forward to seeing the paint job.

If the object your printing unsticks from the build plate the printer doesn't know and carries on printing in mid-air :)
