I'm about halfway into this video and I've got to say fellas this is the most fascinating thing I've ever seen about airplanes on the internet. Is it possible that production of airplanes could be built the same as the way you built yours and marketed. Very interesting.

Awesome bird build. For the best aerodynamics improvement always spray on two coats of gloss clear over any paint unless it's also a gloss coat. Then just one coat as the gloss clear will hide minor scratches. You'd be surprised how much flat paint increases drag on an airplane no matter what size it is.
@Lozzie742 жыл бұрын
It’s not that simple. Smooth, polished surfaces sure reduce friction drag but they can increase form drag. Golf balls aren’t smooth and polished for this reason. Turbulence can actually reduce drag.

Very nice. I just made one of my own. But i'm still trying to figure out what happened to the RC and servos. It apparently shut off automatically the first time. So I made another airplane. It still isn't going. I use FlySky RC. They seem to be good. I don't think the servos can konk out by one use of me leaving it on. So that was it. Still on the work bench.

Thank you! I've got a 100x100 bed using the easythread x1. This is the most accessible 3D printer on the market. I am trying very hard to come up with a 3d printed model (and fully recyclable) for a 3s battery, receiver and I don't want to use ANY CA or hot glue (even exploring 3D printed joiners). Typing to avoid all foam - can use Tape, Cardboard (of any type), and Rubberbands are okay. Bonus points the only screws used to hold servos and motor. Bonus points for not using any wood or carbon for spars. What would you call this #challenge? I know there was the pizza plane - looking for something closer to this video :-) but minus the 125 hours of printing + glue 😃

And I checked FlySky. The receiver 4 channel and 6 channel can go all the way to a little over 1/2 mile. 1000 meters in the air. So that is pretty long way out. In a park, shouldn't be more than 2 to 3 hundred yards tops. That is about 984 feet. Way less.

Instead of using normal fishing line try the braided stuff. A lot less strech under load so it should work even better.
@borgonianevolution3 жыл бұрын
I know fishing line is strong but it also stretches a LOT specially in the warmer days of summer. I would think it would be hard to keep even tension over time and maybe allow for wing warp over its life span? Wouldn't there be a better option. Maybe hemp string impregnated with shellac or polyurethane?

@aerospacematt3 жыл бұрын
It depends on the size of the “open areas”. I find fields that are 300 feet by 200-300 feet are perfect for 3-4s propeller aircraft. I fly in an area surrounded by trees, it’s not as hard as you’d think. You just need to be aware of where you are, and not fly aircraft that are outside the boundaries of the field you’re at.
@alexandertaylor29513 жыл бұрын
