In the 90's...the Pakistan team used to be one of the best and yes they used to beat us easily most of the times...Saeed Anwar,Amir Sohail,Inzamam,Shahid Afridi,Waqar Younis,Wasim Akram,Saleem Malik,Ejaz Ahmed,Shoaib Akhtar...and the Indian team was built by Ganguly...he included players like Yuvraj Singh,MS Dhoni,Harbhajan Singh,Mohd.Kaif,Irfan Pathan in the team which made the Indian team the 2nd best the the world...of course Australia was the best team then...but India played exceptionally well during the early 2000's...

Shoaib Akhtar has a great respect for good Indian players and he's so right there about Ganguly. Ganguly without a doubt was a great captain of India who rebuild the team India and won many matches both ODIs and Tests. Kohli's aggression is nothing in front of Ganguly's. IPL has made international players suck up to us and scared to sledge, which wasn't the case back then. Ganguly came during a time when sub continent teams were politically, financially and racially suppressed by White cricketing nations. He took the fight back to Hussains, Pontings and Flintoffs at their own backyards. My greatest regret was perhaps that 2003 final..but that doesn't reduce the reverence I hold for the man !
