This OWL Season has been really good. All the tournaments during the year have been amazing as well as this grand final. The story lines have also been great. Although all the home stands were cancelled OWL and the players really have made this year so enjoyable.

Absolutely agree dude - OWL has dealt with the issues of this year brilliantly. Hero Pools may not have been perfect but it did mean no one meta dominated the year.

That Half-Time was a perfect representation of the Sideshow Bren dynamic. Sideshow talking about player stats, MVP, answering questions in the chat about the game, and Bren's just fucking off about how many Pringles he can shove in his mouth. Hilarious, so sad this'll be gone til April

As someone new to the OWL, Profit switching onto Genji in a double sniper meta and shutting down the best team ever will forever be my favorite OWL memory. Sad it will get overshadowed by the fact that Seoul didn't win the finals. Profit is the GOAT imo, no matter what.

Because Shock ONLY won (and didn't lose any) control and Hybrid maps in the entire grand finals tournament, and there were 4 control and hybrid maps in the first 6 because of the map order. It followed the pattern exactly. Shock won the tournament winning Control 6 Times Hybrid 4 times Losing Assault (2cp) 3 times Payload 3 times So map order meant you only needed to be good at those two map types to take the title. Seoul came close to winning a control map, Busan, but losing that was basically GG for them. If they had upset Shock on Busan, losing Hollywood would have made it 3-3, and then following the established pattern Seoul would have won the league on Map 7, payload. Shock worthy winners, but this format is sus and should be changed for next year. Control straight up sucks as a game mode, it's absurdly snowbally and that's why in Apex they only played it once per series usually, being map 1 and then only played again to decide draws. Apex map order was Control, Hybrid, Assault (2CP), Payload, Assault (2CP), Payload, Hybrid. Control still has that problem where getting first kill leads to first fight win 66% of the time, and winning first fight leads to winning the map 66% of the time, since you just get more ults and hold the same chokepoint for the rest of the map. This is also why control maps frequently see fewer eliminations than other map types. One rumour is control will be replaced by the tug of war push mode coming in OW2.
@krauloa983 жыл бұрын
@@sEaNoYeAh i get what you are getting at here but considering their quarantine time it was only logical for shock to focus scrim time on control and hybrid. The format isn‘t any different from previous years. For some reason though and I cannot figure out why people say shock don‘t deserve this. O.o They won the most maps and didn‘t lose one match in the playoffs.
@Piggehh3 жыл бұрын
@@krauloa98 yup, like, ”omg seoul only won on payload and assault they dont deserve it”, but nope people are only gonna go at the team that prepped for the most important maps. Like some map type has to be more important, things like this happens

The most crucial play of the whole series is Fits using his last EMP early on Mechbase. He barely catches anyone, and that EMP could have been used to save the point half a minute later. If SD wins Mechbase, it gives them the possibility to win Busan entirely. Hybrid goes to SF 9/10 times, that probably stays the same. But Map 7 could easily have gone to SD, seeing how much SF struggles on Escort. Fits pulling the trigger on that EMP ruined their chances.
@tqkf88783 жыл бұрын
The best part about this set up is that it would have been Seoul’s pick for escort, for which they could have chosen Dorado, which they’re demonically good on

Not yet, he's got two OWL wins but he's the only guy who ever managed to lose the World Cup with Korea and he never won anything before last year. He's not the winningest coach around, that's changgoon, who won Apex, APAC, OWL, and now has an OWL runner up too. Never spoken about and western commentators don't seem to know anything about him, but he's the most successful coach in pro-OW history.

57:23 yea i got confused and voted for super because i thought he played really well in the grand finals weekend
@A2daM2daZ3 жыл бұрын
I think it could've been a 4-1, or even a 4-0 if Shock hadn't stayed on the same comp in Hanamura. Their defense was solid and their attack -even with Super on ball instead of Smurf- was so good. It was clearly a strat they prepared in advance but then got overconfident with it. If they won Hanamura (and I fully believe it was possible) they might've been able to boom Seoul on Gibraltar, or at least still given away won map and taken the W.
@RM-563 жыл бұрын
One thing I’ve been wondering...what if Seoul won the series? Would the bracket have reset since Shock is in the winner side? Most games do this.... it’s kinda odd that last year SF shock had to just beat the Titans one time, with 1 loss under SF too
@nowun60433 жыл бұрын
It would’ve been just like last year as you mentioned. The winners side advantage is supposed to be that you don’t have to play an extra game and thus get more rest or practice time in for the grand finals. Having a bracket reset would just turn that one extra required win into 2
