Could you remember whether there was tiny washers inside the diff, on mine on the back I had 1 small washer behind every asteroid gear and on front was odd like 2 on one 2 on another? Cheers

It's my pleasure. Every time I think of this car I smile. Just to note. We drove through a HUGE puddle and a few seconds later it stopped driving forwards. I assumed we blew the esc. Removed battery. Got it home. Blew air through it. Wd-40. Plugged in battery. All back to normal. Just in case you do the same. Have fun with it! 👌👌🤙

@@JohnRobinsonRC Yes, requires a lot of mods and fine tuning to reach 100 mph but it is possible. I have hit 105 mph with the A959b, so 110 mph is a realistic goal.

I installed a 2845 3800KV motor in my 124018 and I haven't been able to get the engine too hot yet. So i think this little 1/18 will never have any heat problems :)

I have the old brushed version of this. And put a 2845 (I think) 4900kv in it, with 45a esc. Running it on 3s. Never got any electronics warm

The weight is so low(1/18). Not yet speed tested it because it only stay’s stable until 70% of throttle input. (I gues it would go about 80-90kph full throttle)

Hi John! Love your videos- this car is really cute and fast! I am having trouble with my WLtoys 124017 v2 rear differential- I believe there is too much “play” in the parts that the dogbones go into and that causes the 4 small gears inside to mash- this makes it easier for the energy to go through the driveshaft and turn the front wheels as opposed to turning the opposite rear wheel. I bought three replacement diffs and they all share this issue- strangely, the stock front diff does not have it. I’ve tried greasing, taking the diffs apart and tightening the screws- what do you suggest I do next? Thanks!

Hi. Yes you can add 4 small washers behind the cone gears that will tighten everything up. I have a video showing you what I mean. You can also use a small piece of real car fuel hose or nitro car fuel hose and put it in between the dog one and diff cup which will help dampen the energy. A few of the wltoys brushless buggies claim 75kph the 144001 , 124017,124016 ,124019 and this 184016 all claim 75kph as well and to be fair most get fairly close around the 70 kph mark

Yes you are completely correct. I just have a feeling that due to this being a little lighter, it has the extra required to get there. Plus I didn't have much room to test either. You have however put enough doubt in my head that I will retest it ASAP! 😉😊 Have a lovely evening David.

Nice review! Can you measure how long the wheelbase is? I couldn't find any info about this even on wltoys official store. I hope it's shorter than 178 mm/7 inches

I'm going up to measure it now. Please hold. Front wheel to rear wing. 273.6mm Front left wheel to front right wheel. 176mm Rear left to rear right 177mm Centre front wheel nut to centre rear wheel nut. 165.5mm. Practically a brand knew platform ... finally 👌👌👌 Now, you mentioned "uncontrollable", and i think you liked... so, you should Try the Wltoys A979B, also brushed and you will find another "definition" of uncontrollable 😆👌👌👌 Cheers mate 😉

Omg. Seriously? Is it really that long? Before brexit I was having items send to the UK to my parents who would then forward it to me in Malta. Was always quicker than having it sent directly to me. How things have changed. Is it just lately its 2/3 months delay or is it the norm?

WLtoys are annoying-too many numbers, cant remember them and know what car is being talked about, and why put a brushless in a 1/18 and not the 144001 or others??

Agreed. But they have done brushless. The 144001 brushless is called 144010. And the brushless 124019 is called 124017 and the brushless 124018 is called 124016. ;-)
