A domesticated elephant went down for a trip in backwaters of Kerala and he could not get himself back to the land, so the villagers and his handlers and trying to get help him back up and they are giving him fruits and jaggery to calm him down. The pursuit went on for kilometers and the people followed the circus and finally got him to land.

what they are saying in the local language is that it is a stray jungle element which fell into the river during heavy rains and couldnt climb on the bank. as you know, elephants can't lift their legs much. so a small 5 ft lift is impossible for a elephant. it will need a slant for that. but due to rains the banks are eroded so its a steep walk. it would have eventually drowned as the water was rising. so villagers teamed up and pulled it out.

I hate to see when people comments or even often abuses about something they don't have a clue about. FYI, the elephant is not a wild elephant, but one belongs to a temple (domesticated one). The elephant was stunned due to an electric shock (it accidentally touched an electric line), it went out of control and jumped into a river ignoring calls from handlers. They just can't leave it in there, due to security risks to local population and had to resue it using ropes and using fruits as bait.

About the language, it's Malayalam (name itself is a palindrome) spoken by about 40 million people and one of the official lamguages of India.
