Same except it's likely to bring too much immigration. We might end up like France and the UK. Riddled with crime, can't wear nice things or even freely use our mobiles in public. Indians and Muslims seem to take over parts without assimilating to Australian culture and the Chinese driving up property prices and holding up parking spaces by standing in it.

That nickname is horrible. It’s not the fault of the Australian Ibis that their habitat dried up during the long years of drought. It’s a testament to them that they survived by coming into the cities from the wetlands and found ways to survive. It’s humans who throw away half eaten foods that led them to search the bins. Their normal habitat included food from nature: Ibises have long downcurved, slender bills that they use to probe into shallow water, mud or grass when looking for fish, frogs, crayfish, mussels, shellfish, crabs and insects. Now humans have them eating human garbage!

Welcome to my town guys - I've lived here 67 years. A couple of things you should do asap - if you're staying up a Pymble hop back on the train to Circular Quay, then catch a ferry over to Manly. Then take the harbourside walk to Shelly Beach and splash your toes. You haven't experienced Sydney until you've been on the harbour. Then maybe another ferry to Balmain or Barangaroo or Darling Harbour. Ferries are a great way to observe places you'd like to visit when you're tired of walking. Then you should get up high in one of those skyscrapers. Sydney looks stunning from above. Sydney Tower. If you feel like a bit of more walking, a walk from The Rocks across the harbour bridge is free (you don't have to do the bridge climb thing) to Milsons Point / Luna Park and Kirribilli for a gelato or coffee. Then you're back on the rail line home again. Sydney is all about the harbour and the beaches. The water is a bit cold at the moment but you're Europeans so you'll be used to that. Get in there!

Hey there, fun fact if you’re still in Sydney! If you visit the Queen Victoria Building (QVB) at the front of the building opposite of Town Hall is the Statue of Queen Victoria. That statue was originally located in front of the Oireachtas building in Dublin before it was removed in 1948 after Ireland became a republic. It was moved around a lot before being kept in storage and forgotten. Until the 1980s, when the QVB was undergoing through major renovations, the renovation group was looking for a good statue as the central piece for the QVB. Through contacts, they “rediscovered” the abandoned Irish Statue of Queen Victoria and were able to ship the statue to Sydney from Dublin in 1987. And the irony of the British Queen being "transported" to Australia by ship was not lost on the media at the time!

Love your vide of my city. My Great Great Great Grandfather stole a cow at Enniskillen Ireland in 1815. He was convicted and sentenced to 7 years penal servitude in New South Wales. He left Cork in the ship Martha and arrived in Sydney in 1818. He served his 7 years and decided to stay, after being given a land grant to start a farm on the Hawkesbury River West of Sydney, near the town of Windsor. He became a solid citizen and helped to build St Matthew’s Catholic Church in Windsor. He died in 1857 and his headstone is still readable in the Catholic Cemetery of Windsor. Sadly, my Grandfather tried to hide his “convict” heritage. Me, I’m proud of my Irish heritage. I visit his grave when I can to consider his incredible life experience. Enjoy Sydney. Most of the Irish Convicts were political prisoners. Check out the 1798 Memorial, Waverley Cemetery overlooking the Pacific Ocean. "The 1798 Memorial, made of marble, bronze and mosaic, in Waverley Cemetery, Sydney, is the finest 1798 Memorial in the world. It was raised over the grave of a famous Irish character, the Wicklow Chief, who died in Sydney, long after the events of 1798. The Wicklow Chief Michael Dwyer, the Wicklow Chief, is a well-known historical figure in Ireland. Irish people know that he took part in the 1798 Rising in Wexford, and when the Rising had been quelled, he continued the fight in his native Wicklow hills. Irish people generally do not know that he is buried in Sydney." On 14 December 1803 Dwyer surrendered on condition that he be sent to America. He was sent to Australia. He arrived in Sydney on 15 February 1806 with his wife, Mary, on the convict ship, Telicherry. He was classed as a state prisoner, not a convict. Governor King had to treat him as a free settler. He gave him a grant of 100 acres (40.4 hectares) along the Cabramatta Creek outside of Sydney."

Everything is ridiculously overpriced, especially house prices, there is an immigration crisis, overcrowding in spite of Australia being so vast. It's disgusting what is happening with inflation and immigration by the cl0wns in charge, and it's happening globally as you probably already know. That's not even counting heaps more (over 100) cafes* in or near the underground railway stations, along basements levels of QVB Heritage Building with heaps of cafes (as well as shop), connecting basement level areas & walkways between department stores, and more sub-street level places. (*many are not sit at or sit in cafes, but there's very often (shared) area near them where can sit). There's so much underground shops & cafes plaza like spaces & walkways, that a map of Underground Sydney would be quite useful. The $1 on your phone at Pymble just indicates that you have tapped on. If a ticket inspector asks to scan your phone, it displays that (and that alone) to them,.That's how they can detect you've done the right thing. The fare charged will be calculated and displayed after you tap off. Contrary to the belief of some, you get all the same daily/weekly fare caps as an Opal Card, except that it will always charge adult rates (so kids and seniors virtually always use a special Opal card, not a credit card),
@TaeFace932 ай бұрын
Just to add to that, it doesn't show how much the fare was when you tap off, just that it was successful. It'll charge your card at like 4am the next day.
