In the UK each Constituency only has between 60 to 80k of voters. Each one is broken down into Wards and no voters is more than a mile or so from a voting station. We have just had a change in our Polling Station from our Friends House - the Old Post Office to the Village hall in the next village. Voter Suppression was dealt with a long time ago, as was what we called Rotten Boroughs - places where elections were purchased by the rich. Our Head of State does not have the power to make executive orders or even bring in unqualified people to run the show. Our Civil Service, our Separation of Church and State is much stronger. Also we have no idea what party a Judge belongs to - if they were political they be sacked. Our Top Judges don't get a job for life. The USA doesn't seem to have moved on from anti Monarchy and keeps it's constitution like a Religious Text. Magna Carta has been worked on and added to, and will continue to be added to.

Love this episode a lot! I was a Mormon once too and you just don't realize how cult-like it is until you both leave, and adopt a new system from which to get different thinking skills. Many in my family, friends and I did EST back in the 70’s. I learned a lot in EST. Actually my first weekend in the training was right when Jonestown happened in November ‘78, which we discussed at our 2nd weekend. Some of my friends did both EST and Life Spring. None of us ended up being weird or moved on to other cults. I was 28 when I did EST and a middle school teacher at the time. Even took a few seminars after. Having been raised in a strict Greek home that made me feel “less than” than men, afraid of authority and was expected to always obey our elders no matter what, EST helped me with that. When those feelings happen to come up, EST taught me to recognize it’s just a feeling, not necessarily what is, and then am able to let it go. It also stopped my head from running all the time and am able to sleep better because of it. I remember going back to school/work and seeing my principal in a totally different light. I saw him more as my equal as a human being AND as my boss. I started being able to see through people’s facades and that they are just as human as me when it came to feelings and insecurities. That some people just have a better act. I also started seeing through the facades of phonies like Trump. I knew exactly what he was just by watching him on his Apprentice commercials, which is why I refused to watch his show. Another thing I learned in EST is a definition of love that I still quote today- Love is accepting a person for the way they are and the way they are not. What’s wrong with that? There is also a wise story about a mouse and cheese that benefitted me and even told my children when it benefitted them. I’m 71 now. Having done EST, it sure didn’t lead me to becoming part of Trump’s cult. Something major had to be missing in Ginni before she ever did Life Spring that she continues to indulge in cultish behaviors at her age. I think it depends on the individual and people like Ginni need help. I would do EST again if I had to do my life over, it helped me that much. It obviously made people like Ginni worse. BTW, Ginni should be indicted for her part in trying to overturn the election. Then maybe if she is indicted, her “best friend” will have to recuse himself when it necessitates.

This was a very interesting conversation that I appreciate being privy to. I wondered whether or not Ginny's previous cult experience and lack of significant after care rendered her more susceptible. I believe I can scratch that off of my list of things I abhor about her and her husband.
