If you buy in the villages you know ahead of time about the amenities and the fees. That is the primary reason most of the people move there. So the best thing to do is to know what you’re buying into then be supportive of your community! The bench looks awesome as well !

I used to work for the water dept in upstate ny, when they install a new water meter, the home owner is suppose to contact billing and explain that the last reading on the old meter is going to effect the next billing because the new meter is zeroed out

Your videos are very informative and the lifestyle there in The Villages is very appealing. I'm considering a move from California to Florida and have been watching various channels to learn about life in Florida. The adult communities are very nice and, for the most part, worry free. My concern is investing in a community with a homeowners' association (HOA). I have one now and have served on the board of directors for several years. The politics of an HOA is very nasty and I was outnumbered trying to keep spending down. That's my concern. I'll be relieved to get out of my current HOA situation and hesitate to get into another. The alternative is a small house in a nice neighborhood. I'll keep watching and learning. Thanks!!

Good point on the amenity fee. Keep in mind we have thousands of dedicated volunteers who provide their skills for free. The activities are available for everyone great luxury.

I think the bike ride was a very good representation of the issues affecting all motorists/non motorists there. IF The Villages would use more land to create safer driving areas it would have been much better to accommodate for the growing number of Villagers! Maybe…it’s best to go with the Monday show and just throw in something special every now and then on another day?

I had the same issue but not crazy like some of the water bills, my normal monthly irrigation was about 3000 in winter months and 5000 in the summer. Well suddenly this February the bill jumped to 10000 gallons, so I waited for my March bill and that was 10000 gallons. I had a sprinkler expert check my system and they found a leak in my back yard. The leak was fixed and a new sprinkler head was installed and now I'm back to the normal irrigation numbers.

We have a snowbird place in AZ. We all pay an HOA fee that includes 24 hour security, maintenance and activity director and so much more. Once every 3-6 years we get assessed a one time fee to build new things like pickle ball courts , replace a pool etc. we always vote yes because it keeps our property values high and a desired destination for new residents. Some people are short sighted and only vote for things that affect them

Up here our water bill jumped from 175 to 650 for 3 months. 😮 Realized the bathroom toilet was running for a few minutes every 10 minutes. Flapper valve was cracked. 30,000 gallons of water. 😮😮😮 Check your plumbing regularly.

Great show you two. I don't think I would ever question paying the amenities fee. There is so much beauty and things going on that need funds to keep going. I figure that you know that when you sign up to live there. It's kind of like buying a home next to an airport and then complaining about the noise. We are making our plans to come back in August to get an Idea of what to expect when it comes to summer time down there. We will have to get together for a lunch or something if that works out. Having the chance to meet you in person I can say that you are both not even close to being full of yourselves. Totally as advertised.

I somehow missed this video. Love my plantation shutters. I never open them. There is enough light when the slats are open. I don’t have drapes at all, just valances in most rooms. I already mentioned that I visited Gizmo’s bench. Great spot. Glad Costco is coming to TV. But if I were to go to the one in Clermont, I would take 27 to 50. I hate the turnpike.

Always refreshing and informative! I can't imagine the fee to participate in individual amenities - I'm sure it would eliminate some of the activities that have to limit the amount of participants, like water aerobics or water volleyball, etc. It's interesting the amount of folks who move here without first investigating what The Villages is about. I remember when you could get on the turnpike and just cruise back in the 80’s …. My parents lived near a golf course when I was growing up the only thing we could do was during the winter we could cross country ski or snowshoe on it but during the summer the course was off limits unless you golfed .. same with the one that is down the street. Every time I hear someone complaining about amenity fees because they don't golf or do whatever I immediately think...well if that's the case, I don't have kids, I've never had kids, so then why do I have to pay school taxes? It doesn't benefit me in any way.

IMHO folks over 55 should be extra cautious about riding bicycles due to the risk of crash injuries, my Dad got hit by a delivery driver and injured once, my Mother in Law crashed her bike and broke her leg, etc. etc. On water bills, I know a guy that had a water leak develop under his house & he had to dig up one of his bedrooms to access & repair the leak.
