Is it used for knee osteoarthritis ?if yes,what affect it can do?
@painandinjurydoctor3 күн бұрын
It won't cure advanced OA but can stir up fluid movement and improve microcirculation inside the knee, which may provide some relief. Shockwave is generally safe, especially radial shockwave and people are getting their own units. We sell one on our site advphysio.com/collections/shockwave-pressure/products/extracorporeal-radial-shockwave-machine

I've had it before, several times, and a couple of those times the injuries did clear up about a month or two after the final shockwave session.The problem is during the 5 treatments, it's possible to get worse before it gets better, as you are aggravating already injured tissue, and then it can take weeks to months after the final session to see improvement. There's really no way to know if the injury just healed on its own, but doctors are touting a 90% success rate and just from reading testimonials online, it's not even close to that. It's more like 50/50.

I'm so disappointed I didn't know about this therapy until recently. I have hand problems and my doctor made it sound like surgery was the only option and tried to perform surgery on my left hand as well which had no carpal tunnel. The Shockwave therapy is what I needed for my thumbs to heal

There is a company called softwave tissue regeneration, they are selling a machine that’s $80k. Do you know if it’s a good one?
@painandinjurydoctor2 жыл бұрын
Sounds overpriced. Are you a doctor, or patient? There are mechanical shockwave machines that are much less expensive.

It's not for AVN; it's more for scar tissue adhesions.
@TropicalBrz12 Жыл бұрын
I think it's promising. Since it stimulates blood flow or even can make body make new blood vessels, it can address AVN. I have AVN and recently heard about this therapy. I'll search. When I check on KZbin I see alot of therapist from India, claiming they can heal AVN patients with this technic but almost all of them is not in English :(

I have Diabetic Neuropathy. I've been trying to find videos about fingers, but can't find them. I know it doesn't effect nerves, but I was hoping to improve circulation.
@painandinjurydoctor Жыл бұрын
Hi, shockwave shouldn't be used for diabetic neuropathy. I would suggest trying red light therapy and pulsed EMF for your hands, to improve circulation and cellular function. pulsedemf.com

Guys, can you pls explain a bit about the frequency of this treatment in order to have the maximum effect? I've been dealing with Heel bursitis for over two months now. So, can it be taken every day for a week or two?
@painandinjurydoctor4 жыл бұрын
Depends on what you're treating. A calcific tendonitis case may require 3-6 treatments before it heals.

hi, i have hamstring tendinopathy, hamstring partial tear, and pectoral partial tear, and the muscle-tendon junction. with all these injuries I want to return to competitive powerlifting, boxing, and bodybuilding and was my physiotherapist informed me that you cannot get rid of car tissue once its formed, is this true? he also told me that there is no scientific evidence to suggest that friction therapy works to break up scar tissue, please any help would be very helpful as im 25 and at a bit of a loss at this point in life, thanks
@painandinjurydoctor4 жыл бұрын
Definitely try shockwave. I can't think of any other modality that is able to deal with scar tissue as effectively. You describe your conditions as "tears" which is a significant injury (as opposed to "strain."). Tendons and ligaments, when torn have very poor regenerative capability, as there are very few living cells in them. You may need surgery, depending on how bad the tear is. I would not place a significant load on the muscles that have a tear as you can get a complete tear. I suggest finding another sport that won't beat up your muscles as much.

Andrew, do you know if the ESWT machine used on you was a percussion or piezoelectric one? There is a big difference. You want a piezoelectric one. Also, it usually takes a couple of treatments for maximum effect.
@nawluck4 жыл бұрын
What about neuropathy?
@painandinjurydoctor4 жыл бұрын
ESWT is most effective for previously injured and healed connective tissues such as ligaments, tendons and fascia. It won't do much for neuropathy. Try red light therapy for neuropathy, or pulsed EMF. See my site PulsedEMF.com
