It wasn't really crossing the dark lord because at no time was she told not to do it. As a matter of fact we never even seen when Draco was given the task. Also it was most certainly a test for Snape because she doubted him from the start, but it was also insurense that Draco didnt fail. We know the plan was for Draco to kill Dumbledore and become master of the Elder Wand ( which he did become ) and their for give Voldemort a super easy target to kill to gain the Elder Wand from. What they didnt expect was for Snape to step in and be the one to kill Dumbledore, but we knew that Voldemort's plan was doomed to fail because Snape had already told them about it.

Remember she didn't trust Snape, like many other death eaters. The intention behind going with Narcissa to Snape's house, was in fact to confirm he had the balls to put at risk his life when it mattered most. Narcissa was extremely smart about it and asked her to come along. This in Narcissa's mindset played as peer pressure for snape. He couldn't be seen as a weak ally nor lacking loyalty. You can see that Voldemort didn't fully trust Snape, and he had to kill Albus in order to accomplish and fulfill his complete trust, which is said by Albus himself. So i think training him was probably more so her preparing him to do his best so the lord would be pleased not only with his job, but also with her dedication in making sure he succeeds.
@clevahh_plays31764 жыл бұрын
I still do not think it was a betrayal on her part. She did everything in the name of lord voldemort. Dont you think that would mean doing anything to make sure his plans worked without a hitch. I really think Bellatrix used Narcissa in that way. I do not think that Bellatrix thought that Draco could go through with terminating dumbledore. And convincing narcissa to do the unbreakable vow with snape was her way of making sure voldemorts plans worked out without any issues. Making snape do the unbreakable vow was also a way for her to be sure that he wasnt an imposter under the guise of narcissa's love for Draco. Also, like you said. Bellatrix would kill her own family without a 2nd thought. This scenario would have made this easier on her. She would not have to kill Narcissa if either her or Snape went against the unbreakable vow. And if Draco failed his mission, she would not have to kill Draco because it would have been done for her more than likely by voldemort. Doing the unbreakable vow had many different things beneficial for bellatrix and voldemort. The whole scenario could be taken a lot of different ways. Not saying your wrong by any means. This is just the way ive always seen the whole thing. Love the vids. I would love to know what you think of what I said.

I've always seen Bellatrix betraying Voldemort by teaching Oclumancy to Draco. The only purpose for doing that is to allow Draco to conceal things from Voldemort. It also implies Bellatrix used it against him herself. It's love for Draco and Narcisissa, yes. It's also self survival. She doesn't want her family to compromise her. But above all, it's betrayal
@Sharon-pb7so4 жыл бұрын
I think this was more a test of Snape than done out of love for her sister. Bellatrix didn't think Snape was loyal to Voldemort. The unbreakable vow was suggested as a way to finally find out if Snape's loyalities were to Dumbledore or Voldemort. Bellatrix was probably planning to run to Voldemort if Snape didn't do the vow and therefore, she hoped, Voldemort would see her as his most loyal deatheater and maybe he'd love her for it.

She is the one who will go to any lengths to protect her son. Bella is shocked when Snape agrees to do it. And even after the vow issue and sealed it is highlighted that Bella still looks shocked that not only Narcissa begged for this but that Snape agreed. While I do agree Bella may have slightly betrayed the Dark Lord for her sister and that she is capable of thinking for herself, the rest of the theory kinda falls through. I wouldn't label this as "betraying". She simply reluctantly agreed to help her sister and nephew under the table while keeping Voldemort in the dark. The ultimate objective was to kill Dumbledore. Draco was sent on this task as a fool's errand similar to when zuko was tasked with finding and capturing the Avatar
@JuanMataCFC4 жыл бұрын
i think i'm with u on this. when they were on their way to Snape's house, Bellatrix told Narcissa more than once to call off this "meeting". once they got there, she questioned Snape's loyalty to the T (and rightly so). she even told Narcissa they couldn't talk about "the plan" with Snape, until Snape said he knew about the plan. she did everything she could to prevent the meeting from even taking place, but Narcissa was desperate since her son's safety was at risk. if anything it was Narcissa who betrayed Voldemort here, but with the part Bellatrix played (she also taught Draco Occlumency & probably did a bit more behind Voldemort's back) i can see why he worded the title like he did.
@dynastywarriorlord074 жыл бұрын
@@JuanMataCFC Remember that even though Voldemort sent Draco on a "fool's errand" of assassinating Dumbledore, Voldemort NEVER explicitly stated that Draco had to do it on his own without external help from anyone NOR threatened that if he receives help from anyone else in anyways either directly or indirectly, Voldemort would have considered it as Draco having failed the task regardless of whether or not Dumbledore actually died. Bellatrix merely helped Draco under the table to improve his chances of success but Draco was still expected to carry out the task largely on his own. All parties largely acted within the "rules" set by Voldemort with the exception of Snape "kill-stealing" Draco. But even then Voldemort was just glad to have gotten Dumbledore out of the way that he decided to spare Draco's life just to cut the Malfoys a break
@lordvika25264 жыл бұрын
@@dynastywarriorlord07 Right, we never actually seen or read the part when Voldemort gave Draco the task to kill Dumbledore, so we dont know if he said he had to do it all alone.....also don't forget that the plan also included getting deatheaters into Hogwarts so Draco wasn't supposed to do it all on his own to begin with....he was supposed to fix the vanishing cabinet so that Bellatrix and others could get inside and then he was supposed to go kill Dumbledore as a group with Draco being the one to actually kill him. By making Snape take the unbreakable vow she just made sure that if he couldnt do that ( because they didnt know if it could be done which might have been the fool's errand ) then at least Draco would have back up against Dumbledore, along with testing Snape.
@nickolivares71884 жыл бұрын
@@lordvika2526 what makes it gp against voldemort is this. Draco kills Dumbledore - elder wand becomes dracos - voldemort has to kill draco for the wand to become his. Since snape killed him he would have to kill snape which we do know really upset voldemort, he did not want to kill snape because he knew how powerful he truly was. So, it is possible that since the spell she put on snape forcing him to do it if draco could not, could definitely be seen as a betrayal. Not because it defied him directly like you're saying but because it put him in a position to kill a very powerful death eater and not the "cowards" son.
@lordvika25264 жыл бұрын
@@nickolivares7188 But thats just it Draco could have done it just that he was reluctant to do it. That doesn't mean that out of desperation he wouldn't do it. Just that Snape got their in time to do it instead as per Dumbledore's request. Also by killing him it also put Voldemort off Draco's trail for a little while...but if anything the betrayal would be seen from Snape not Bellatrix. But you can also look at it like Bellatrix ensuring that her lords plans were seen to fruition. Since she was seen trying to stop her sister from going to see Snape, she can be seen as trying to stop any what was going to happen, but once she couldn't stop her sister she seen a way to either to get rid of Snape either 1 by him not helping and getting killed by the vow outing him as a spy or 2 others from Hogwarts killing him for killing Dumbledore. Either way she now got rid off the only one closer to Voldemort than she was.

Even though Lucius Malfoy was in charge of the operation she tried to supersede him by wanting to torture Ginny weasely in order to get the prophecy. I don't think you can really say that Bellatrix betrayed Voldemort. She did in her power to try and respect his wishes when it came to the assassination plot, short of snitching on her sister. That was really the only thing that she had done that Voldemort could be mad about, not immediately meeting him about her sister's plans. From the moment that the mission was assigned to Draco and Narcissa had decided that Snape had to help them, Bellatrix has tried to convince her sister to reconsider. The entire passage at Spinner's End is Bellatrix trying to stop her sister and keep her mouth shut. It was only when Snape revealed that he was made aware of the plans and that he would have considered a betrayal to the Dark Lord as well, if Narcissa had been the one who informed him about them, she loosened up a bit. And when her sister's intention became clear, Bellatrix did jump to the opportunity to provide an extra service to her master. When the unbreakable vow was cast, it was already made clear that Snape would be the next in line to kill Dumbledore and the unbreable vow gave her the opportunity to prevent Snape from backing out when that time was there. She still didn't trust Snape but if Draco failed, she would at least assure that either Dumbledore died or the traitor did. Either way, she ensured herself that her master would have something to be pleased about, even if it all came out. The only thing that she did out of love for her sister was not snitching on her but as she said, she would have happily sacrificed a child to the Dark Lord if he demanded it. Voldemort might still punish her for not informing him about the little scheme Snape and Narcissa had hatched but it would be very light punishment and just to make the point that nobody goes behind his back but other than that, he would be quite proud of her quick thinking and decisive actions. Because, from Voldemort's point of view it would still be an extra security for his plans with Dumbledore...

Amazing video and channel! I just discovered you so I’m sure I’ll be binge watching all your videos for the next few days.. I love everything you said here, and merely wanted to add what I think is another important caveat to Bellatrix’s motivations in betraying Voldemort and performing the unbreakable vow. I think throughout the story it’s made clear that Bellatrix is 1) jealous of Snape’s position with her master, as she shows surprise when he knows certain things or is entrusted with things she fancied Voldemort trusted her with over others, and 2) suspicious of Snape’s overall loyalty, given his past with the Potters and Dumbledore. I think the Unbreakable Vow was truly a genius solution to all of her motives, both selfish and otherwise: to protect Draco and help her sister in case he couldn’t complete the task, to guarantee that Voldemort’s intended end of killing Dumbledore would happen regardless, AND to truly test Snape’s loyalty to the cause. While she is betraying the dark Lord herself, I think she is aware that she’s not doing so in a way that interferes with Voldemort’s ultimate goal, whereas Snape very well could be if he’s still in any way loyal to Dumbledore. I also think her own bare minimum capacity for understanding love and loyalty as demonstrated here might be why she rightfully still questions Snape’s motivations: she knows firsthand what love and loyalty can mean to a person in a way Voldemort does not. She questions Snape in ways that Voldemort CAN’T, because he doesn’t understand much of those concepts at all. In a way, she’s way more perceptive in this area than the Dark Lord himself. And in an ironic way, she’s attempting to ensure loyalty to the dark Lord by going against his wishes here.

I have a theory Voldemort found out about the Unbreakable Vow by simply reading Narcissa's or Bellatrix's mind, and was actually impressed the sisters took the initiative to come up with a backup plan to ensure Voldemort's vision came to pass even if Draco failed. And since it worked out beautifully (from Voldemort's perspective), Voldemort never saw any reason to say anything about it. Snape's willingness to go along with it also would have impressed Voldemort, as it showed how Ride or Die Snape was for the cause. He'd either see Dumbledore dead or die himself, guaranteed. Voldemort is evil but he's not a complete idiot. He could see how stuff like this would benefit him, I'm sure.

Finished video. Loved it. I think her love for her family is complex. Part of it is undoubtedly true love , the love that conquers all but like you say it's also tainted love. A love that is conditional, just like the love in the Black and Malfoy's family was. Both sides of Draco's family are very similar. They protect their own as long as they are theirs to own. That's the great weakness of Voldemort's followers. Most of them are Slytherins. Their survival and own interests will always be what matters most to them. Their loyalty just as their love is conditional

Nope. She didnt want to kill off Ron. She wanted to kill Arthur Weasley. But then she decided not to kill him because there were too many Weasley children and it was the worst thing for her to kill off a father. It meant to her in a different way because she wasn't on good terms with her father and didnt want to anyone to go through the pain of loosing a father again.

I don't think voldamort would've been 'cool' with it, but I don't think that also means she betrayed him. He may not like it, but that doesn't mean she went against him and betrayed him in a way. Just didn't tell him something that didn't really affect him too much. Just my opinion though, but I see how it could also be betrayal.
@benjamincurrent55913 жыл бұрын
I never thought of this as a betrayal before, and I can only assume that the reason Voldemort didn't kill her is because he either viewed it as the initiative that got rid of Dumbledore, or because she had one of his horcruxes in her vault at Gringotts. That alone would give her leverage, in addition he might have spared her because she could have been carrying his child Delphi at the time. Thank you for pointing out that this was a betrayal.

Bellatrix is one of my favourites. I've even started a Bellatrix area on my Harry Potter shrine. Git her wand, mini mask, a figurine and also a lego figure of her escaping Azkaban. It's a pity there wasn't much screen time for her. In the books, I imagined her looking more like Narcissa,but severely underweight with sunken eyes, missing teeth and whatnot. I always watch these videos and give them a thumbs up. This really keeps Harry Potter alive!

An interesting thing to look at this. I haven't thought about seeing Bellatrix as someone who would 'betray' Voldemort, although I see it more as making her own decission. Just like you've said, she's still human after all. I think betraying is a harsh statement in Bellatrix's case, but I think to understand why you see it this way.

If you think about it she betrayed him twice. The other one being when she didn’t call him immediately when they suspected Harry to be in their possession because she was afraid that he would kill them all because Harry and his crew had the sword of gryffindor.
@ZapR213 жыл бұрын
I think if Bellatrix told Voldemort about Narcissa's vow with Snape, then Narcissa would die, thats a loss for Bellatrix. If Bellatrix just supported the vow by making it unbreakable, she just made sure (1) Snape is loyal, (2) Dumbledore is dead, and (3) The smartest and strongest opponent is out of the war, making Voldemort and the death eathers (and her self) more powerfull. So actually this is a very clever, but rational choice to make. Not really emotional and out of love for their family, but probably that played a small part of her decision.

It was definitely a smart move for Bellatrix. By accompanying Narcissa to spinners end and encouraging Snape to make the unbreakable vow, she was able to help her nephew, please her sister, force Snape to prove his loyalty and insure that Dumbledore would die either way.

Yes, that is, indeed, a betrayal. But in the book she did not really want to come with her sister. Neither she wanted N to disobey V and disclose “her problem”. Severus then said that “as it so happens, I am aware if your problem” to great surprise of Bella. So she took her chance to test Snape’s loyalty. Nevertheless, I agree she came along with N because she loved her, and maybe was hoping to stop her from getting in any more trouble by disobeying Voldemort.

Bella is like a slytherin 💯 % but she is as loyal as a hufflepuff
@Slytherinarmy Жыл бұрын
No, Bellatrix IS a Slytherin. Also, she has Slytherin loyalty not Hufflepuff Loyalty. Hufflepuff loyalty and Slytherin Loyalty are completely different. When Slytherins are loyal to someone, they are very picky/precise/strict to who they're loyal to and not loyal to many people. When they're loyal to someone, they are very loyal to them unless they're betrayed by the other person then they cut that person off. Hufflepuffs however are not picky or hesitant to their loyalty. They're very open and don't mind being loyal to many different people.

Bellatrix believed in family first, was a big part of her anger at Andromeda. She felt as if her sister betrayed the family by not marrying a pure blood the same at she and Narcisse did. Bellatrix married who was told to marry. Love had absolutely nothing to do with her marriage. Family first. In fact, in the book, she was told to take care of the family's problem and kill Tonks. It wasn't a problem because Tonks was not a pure blood and was going against Lord Voldemort.

Bellatrix didn't trust Snape and wanted to catch him out for Voldemort and to make sure that Snape actually helped her sister either way Bellatrix got what she wanted. She put Snape in an impossible situation, not realising that Snape was an absolute expert in hiding his true intentions and emotions. 🌟
@MadHatterDJ-3 жыл бұрын
I think she had serious doubts about Snape. She knew her Master wouldn’t agree so she saw this meeting as an opportunity to expose Snape. Once he agreed to make the unbreakable vow (which she had suspected he wouldn’t) she had to take Snape as truthful. I think she went behind Voldemort’s back as a plan to expose Snape and it was simply a side note that she was able to put her sister’s mind at ease.
@KariSuttle3 жыл бұрын
Good point. I never really put any thought into how she went to Spinners End and why she was teaching Draco occlumency. I always assumed it was under orders to hide the task from Dumbledore, but its true Voldemort didn't want anyone interfering. I always figured she accompanied her sister because she was supporting her and looking out for her; to go alone anywhere as a woman can be dangerous.
@Vikt0rian4 жыл бұрын
I honestly think there can be some merit to the idea that Bellatrix might in fact have been set up to do it by Voldemort himself to do exactly that. Test Snape, because I feel like Voldemort still doubted Snape at this point in time. Dumbledore even predicted as much which is why he set Snape up to kill him as to prove his loyalty truly to the dark lord.
