Lord Voldemort has accomplished a lot. You could say that he’s achieved more than the average wizard. Ok thats an understatement, the man took magic to a whole different scale and it’s not naive to assume that nobody will ever reach those heights again. However, before he became known solely as Lord Voldemort, the dark lord went by the name of Tom Marvolo Riddle and let me tell you, Tom was able to achieve something that nobody else before had him even come close to. I’m not talking about spells or any type of magic, I’m talking about how Tom Riddle got his hands on the lost diadem of Ravenclaw. What did he do or say to convince Helena Ravenclaw to tell him the location of the headpiece? Let’s take a look in todays video..

There were other objects that had historical value in the wizarding world that could have been made into Horcrux's but the diadem had value far greater than that of just being a Horcrux.

I sooo wish JK would do a true prequel series focusing on Voldemort and everything that happened in the orphanage, to gaining Horcruxes, and the first wizarding war. The movie is different from the books...he may have used “ The Baron” to figure out who she was and just used flattery to get the information. I doubt he told her he’d destroy it, he likely made it sound like it was very historical and told her that she’s more cleaver than her mother (when he found out who she was)

I believe he would have studied the lore behind the Gray Lady and used his charm to carefully woo the information out of her ! I always thought while he was talking with her he was using Leglimency to find the location if she wouldn't divulge the information. Since it's never been explained whether or not you could read the ghosts minds. So I always had a theory he might have used it

I think he would certainly befriend her well, he would wait it out till she brought the diadem up. I doubt he would mention her mother till she did then lay it on thick about his own mother being so terrible. Showing to have everything in common with her without it being obvious at all. Maximum manipulation, maybe even convince her that he knows how to free her if that's what she wished. No more ghost, just death. I also think he would come across as having no friends whatsoever as people don't understand him, she most likely thinks this way too being such a brat. Also I think he would even play on the "I'm so ugly" speech as she did say she thought he was good looking so he would have definitely picked up on that.

Remember she's a ghost, and so far it's not been brought up in the books, or movies, but I think she knew about the room of requirement. She's the one who described it's location to Harry as the place where everything is hidden. If you have to ask you won't find it. That's the room of requirement. You don't ask where is it? As a ghost she probably followed Tom to make sure he destroyed the diadem. When he went to the room of requirement she saw the diadem! Then she felt the dark magic emanating from it! This is just my opinion, but I think it's possible.

You know what always bugged me. How in the world did the twins figure out how to access and close the marauders map. I can see that perhaps the two of them said something like I solemnly swear I'm up to no good, since they're crafty pranksters. But on the same note, it's almost impossible to conceive that after they figured out the password to get in, they figured out how to deactivate it. Unless they manged to track down who ever had it before them. The person that filch confiscated it from that allowed the weasley twins to find it in his office their first year. Possibly even talking to lupin himself at some point? Who knows. It's never explained what the marauders did with the map when they left school. Stands to reason they passed it on though.

I think that 1) Helena may not have not cared about her mom, but she was being requested by a man who had many many many times propositioned her and refused to take her no for an answer and i believe she didn't trust that her mother wasn't trying to trick her or that he wasn't trying to trick her. She wouldn't have known that her mother didn't sell her out. So I can absolutely see her refusing the Baron. but as far as Tom, I think he used this same approach on the Baron first. He was the ghost of slytherin house. He would have been perceptive enough to notice the Baron avoiding Helena (out of guilt) and could have easily started by asking innocent enough questions like, how did you die? and slowly gain his trust. Slowly get him to gush about Helena (the love of his life). Tom probably knew more about Helena then any of the others who may have tried to talk to her in the past.

If I were doing it from a manipulative approach I would have played the long game. Over a period of time would have sincerely befriended her. Sympathized without broaching the subject. Ask about her life and ambitions. Then in the year I would be taking the O.w.l.s I would play up the stress. Again without bringing it up directly. Confide in her my concerns over my knowledge. Drop key points of having no time to learn all I needed to. Lead her to the opening to tell me of the diadem. Or If that failed convince her I’ve found so much peace in making amends and convince her that bringing it back would allow for some amount of peace in her even in the after life. If ALL that failed I’d say “Look tell me where it is and I’ll personally push the four eyed kid who makes every year a stress filled war zone for everyone else down the shifting stair case”

@@zhihanlim3500 There's more to both Dumbledore and Voldemort than dueling I think that it was more than that that allowed Harry to beat Voldemort at Hogwarts He anticipated Voldemort's actions and other aspects for the last 7 years in fighting him for the Sorcerer's/ Philosopher's stone, and defeating Quirell as an 11 year old, Tom Riddle's shadow self and the basilisk in the Chamber of Secrets when he was 12, driving back more than 100 dementors at once in Prisoner, defending himself against Voldemort at the Little Hangleton graveyard, resisting and defeating Barty Crouch's Imperious Curse, Fighting Voldemort's mind control in Order of the Phoenix, fighting back against Umbridge's oppression and teaching others to fight against her orders which prepared them 2 years later to fight Voldemort's army, and the rest that he did including hunting down and destroying horcruxes while avoiding his forces for an entire year. Harry is an extremely powerful wizard. Perhaps more as an 11 year old than many adults

One thing I think, because of her Shy nature, He'd make syure he was always alone. That would play to many reasons, but ultimately it's because he knew she wouldn't like talking around too many studantsat once. Maybe have points where he'd have a friend talk him up if the felt she was watching

I would try to talk to her and say how unfortunate I have been. Try to bring out similarities with her and win her heart. Show that I understand her steps and what she did was not wrong. Maybe then she woud confide in me the hidden place of the lost Diadem.....

You are quite right. Tom was an excellent imitator of altruism, he turned her trust into hatred, when she discovered that he had made a fool of her. Hope nobody of you, folks, will ever be deceived like she was, even though she had been mean herself.

So voldemort physically can't feel loving emotion, but even so, there are functioning sociopaths in our society that don't resort to murder. Voldemort's back story in a good book following this path would be great
