Stumbling unto this channel was the biggest "NOT" mistake I've ever made. You guys are awesome, thank you so much for taking your time to do all this. It has made replaying Skyrim for me so much awesomer. I've replayed the whole game 4 times already, and I still can't get enough. Pls keep this up and don't worry about the views and support, it'll keep pouring in with time. Thanks again, you guys are the bomb.

Michael Cain My brother, I wish I could be Like you, playing such a big game 4times already. Like I'm always here saying I want to play that game over but damn too much time would be spent again grinding for some rare items, searching for quest that I once played but forgotten where it was and power lvling to get my stealth and archery at 100. Please tell me, what keeps you going for more?
@kaywestda13809 жыл бұрын
addixnng Each time I do I use new Mods, a new race, I make new choices and explore the open world more. Sure there are missions you won't want to play again but just play through those ones fast and you should be able to play the whole game again. I just love the game and it's open world, everytime I play it makes me feel so alive and free. Like I'm living an alternate life, an escape from reality (like the movie Avatar). When you play it like that, you'd definitely enjoy it. :D

I'll keep that game style in mind, thanks.

Michael Cain now I can't do that. Never a fan of replaying a story. I only did it with Fallout 3, NV, and ES Skyrim is because I played them on PS3 and then it broke so I got the 360 and made new and better stories for F3 and Skyrim. I got NV on PC and made a new better story as well. Also got dlc on my new stories. But I can replay the game again. I just find stuff I haven't done or just roam around finding stuff and killing bad creatures and bad people. Meet new people...aaaaand yeah lol. Its like I'm living other lives as well with these games as well as Oblivion and its great af. Will forever love these games

I read all the books that I find in the Elder Scrolls. Some of them rank as very well written short stories. They'd be publishable as a real book, I think. "The Mystery of Princess Talara," followed by "The Real Barenziah," followed by "A Dance in Fire," followed by "An Argonian Account," and so on until you have a 500-page anthology. Oh yeah, it would sell. Even if you can read every word for free online, it would still sell.

Thanks for doing this and thanks to everyone who donated to support it. I am a fan of TES series, but never knew half the things mentioned here, despite playing trough the games. Also looking forward if and when you make Dragon Age, Warcarft, Witcher Lore series, since I didn't play half those games, I did try DA and Witcher and it just didn't grasp me as it is, but I know there's more to it, so I'd like to know it's story to give it a chance it might deserve. Also, the new TES voice actor is good (old one was good too actually, I'm fine with either tbh, whatever is easier for you guys). Great work with the art too, I got no idea how you made half those screenshots, I assume with mods. Hope you continue this good work and that the channel gets the attention it deserves.

I knew you guys put many hours into each of your videos and this one just makes me appreciate the time you put into them even more. Keep up the work! Just one thing: Could you possibly do a video specifically for the Snow Elves of Skyrim? I know you mentioned them in a couple videos, but if it's at all possible could you do one just for them?
@gojimoji908510 жыл бұрын
Isn't it too late now? Like they already discussed the Elves of Tamriel and just sticking in a Snow Elf video wouldn't make any sense as it doesn't lead to anything. I think a Snow Elf video would be great, it's a fascinating topic, but there simply isn't enough "meat" to the topic as, for example, the High Elves. But I guess we can hope for them to do a video on the Falmer. ShoddyCast, if your reading this THANK YOU SO MUCH for the Elder Scrolls and Fallout Lore series. The videos are endlessly fascinating and there simply is nothing else like this on KZbin. I personally, have only seen Dark Souls Lore videos (they're pretty big now-a-days) but you guys are truly, utterly, awe-inspiringly, different from the rest of KZbin. Congratulations!!! :D

Dear ShoddyCast, When I first got Skyrim two years ago (along with my first ((and only)) console), and quite frankly. I didn't give a damn about the lore. "Ooh, some person is in trouble because of this event that didn't happen." Would be my reaction to almost everything in the game. Books in the game were just for aesthetics. But finally, whilst browsing the KZbins I stumbled onto this channel. To keep the story short, thanks to your channel, I have discovered a love and passion for the lore of 'The Elder Scrolls' series. Thank you, Your adoring fan.

I rarely ever comment on youtube,but i feel that this is a good reason to do so.I have watched so many videos about games and i have done large amounts of research on several particular game series throughout the years, Elder Scrolls and Fallout being two of the more interesting ones for me personally and i just have to say,i have never enjoyed watching anything about video games more than i have watching the Lore series.I am one of those gamers that does try to read every book or note there is to find in a game, i am passionate about learning everything there is to learn and i believe that Lore in video games and the people who come up with it and put it on paper do not nearly receive the respect and admiration they deserve.You guys outdo yourself and put together a little masterpiece every time, to show people what the wonderful world of video game lore is all about and for that i salute you and i truly hope you continue to do so for a very long time. This was very nicely put together. I believe that a lot of people don't realize, or even forget, how much work goes into making these video presentations. It gets even harder when you don't have the skills yourself, but most of the time, it just takes an idea and then the willingness and drive to try and make it work. Thank you guys for making this video, you may not like the sound of your own voice, but for many of us who have watched from the beginning, it has become one that is as much a part of the culture of the Elder Scorls series as Malukahs songs and covers are to it :) ... I have to say your recent lore on Ulfric Stormcloak is the only one to make me cringe, i'm guessing you had no lore checkers on that vid at all as I went to your listed sources and found speculation and fan fiction the greater aspects of them. I've researched the story of Ulfric in Great detail from in game sources which do not line up with a lot of wiki entries and found your vid as accurate as a report on Abraham Lincoln based off of the movie Abraham Lincoln; Vampire Slayer. I'd love to contribute to a remake of that topic, though my script writing is untested and I have no posted material (aside from 1,000's of youtube debates on the subject)\ ~Talos Guide You

The lore videos are absolutely amazing. I truly appreciate the amount of time and work that goes into each episode. I'm currently addicted the the Fallout series. I will definitely be starting Fallout 3 again then New Vegas. Thanks again for coming up with these great videos. I truly appreciate a great video that takes the time and effort to flesh out story. I can not wait for a Dark Souls lore series. I love what VaatiVidya does on his Channel but I'm very interested to see how ShoddyCast tackles the deep dark story that is the Dark Souls lore. I'm so happy this channel exists. The elder scrolls lore feels like actual legend. It's narration and layout is beautiful and after the video ends it leaves me with a wonderful story to recall when playing the the game or simply being lost in thought of the story itself. I'll catch myself playing the lore while in transit from A to B or with headphones before bed. The changes you have made have drastically improved the quality of the story, but all the videos have been purely enjoyable since the beginning! You guys have really filled a void in my gaming interest and keep opening doors not just in informational facts I didn't know of the game, but also creating a new feel in the experience I have in game. I again am grateful for your efforts and will show my appreciation by contributing my resources so many others can gain the genuine appreciation I have for the stories you so beautifully tell. Thank you.

This would be amazing. Halo waypoint does have some lore on their site which is exactly what the Shoddy Cast's work reminded me of at first, but it is far less detailed and lacks the quality that these guys put in. Halo's Lore is quite understated. The games also have at least 12 novels, 7 anime shorts and a bunch of other media based on everything from untold stories from the present day Spartans, the origin of the war all the way back to the Forerunner's and their beginnings 100,000 years ago. The potential is certainly there, and it would be nice to have some of this information in a more digestible size some day.

Hey guys. I started watching the Elder scrolls lore series in the summer, and it has almost been a whole year! What you guys do is awesome, and the whole community appreciates it. Keep doing what you guys are doing, and I wish the best of luck. I may even donate!

Hey thanks for taking the time to make this behind the scenes video. I really enjoyed it and it's given me a huge appreciation for the level of commitment and amount of work you guys put into these. I actually considered doing the same when I got an app on mt phone (which has since been taken off the Play Store) that had a collection of all Elder Scrolls literature really simply set out that made the books really easily accessible and I spent a lot of time reading them. This made me realise how wonderfully intricate the lore and world are and thought that a KZbin channel is definitely the way to bring Lore to the masses. Alas work and other things got in the way and ate my time up so I'm really glad to see that someone has actually done it and to such a high standard. Keep up the good work. You've got my support.

I wish that game would still be worth it. Played it for 6 years.
@The1Helleri10 жыл бұрын
Iv'e played it for 12 years and still going strong. It has changed over time. That is to be expected of course. The reasons to play it have changed as well (to where it likely won't attract the same audience it did even 6 years ago). But, it has never actually gotten boring for me. You may wish to revisit it. Now is an amazing time to do so. I really think you will be presently surprised by the new environment. and especially the massive changes in the works. Changes the players decided under the new player driven development system. Here is a short list of things we will see in the months to come: - Massively improved banking system (this month). - The return of weapon specials (likely within the next 3). - Sweeping improvements to EoC (half of them are already applied). - A true retro mode for the post EoC game (this still depends on players voting). - Continued development and maintenance of the 07' servers. - The elven city (already in the works and their continuosly polling us on the larger details).

Haha, same. I can't say that I have played it for 12 years, but 8 years isn't a small amount of time either. :P I will admit, that lore hasn't always interested me, but in the latest couple of years, I have been very interested in the RS lore, which also made me enjoy lore in other games like Skyrim. :) I also completely agree that people should give it another try, and a proper try; not just play about with it for a few minutes/an hour, but several hours, and putting some effort into it. I see *many* people who just drop the game, due to change, without ever giving it an actual try. Jagex are working hard on improving the game. They may not pick the correct actions all the time, but seen from a distance, the game is massively improving. Btw, if you wish to watch some lore videos about RS, you may want to check out TheCompleteRS's channel. ;)

Zenyl if they released it for mobile i would definitely play again but there are so many other games that dont have a 7$sub that are in my opinion better or if they do have a sub have more to over...though many fond memerories in the wilderness

Understandable. Thing is that it is a game built over more then a decade. And, with how often it is updated. It is simply not going to be the game you signed up for even 2 years after you start playing. I thought about giving it up a few times. But, I guess at some point I got used to that. And, then started to enjoy it. That it is a game that constantly remakes itself. So, it simply never gets boring for me.

It would be so amazing if you guys were to start a Mass Effect lore series!!! There is of course less lore to build the series upon then Elder Scrolls and probably also Fallout but Mass Effect have still enough to work with and it would be a great story to tell!

Talos isn't David of Israel, he's Ragnar Lodbrok, Danish Viking, conquerer, and King. He was born a farmer, and killed his Jarl in a duel, seizing the his land and title. He and his sons conquered the Netherlands, Britain, and Normandy. He had an affair with Princess Aslaug before she became his second wife. He even was thought to be the kin of Odin and Thor, just like Talos ascending to godhood.

3:24 Yeah, I just can't say how mad I get when I see someone jumping the dialogues and just playing the game for the graphics! Maybe because I live in Brazil I see a lot of people here like and dislike a game because of it's graphics, I can only find a few people that love games like Final Fantasy; Elder Scrolls; Fallout (and all these amazing RPG games) for it's storyline, mainly because people are just too damn lazy to learn english! I have been "forced" (by myself) to learn english so I could see and learn everything about the game, I just can't think of playing something just for pressing buttons and moving the stick. I just wanted to tell these people that they're missing what's most awesome in gaming, it also gets me pretty sad. Oh and, you're pretty right about the age of the viewers and maturity, I'm 15 myself and most of people from around my age just can't watch things like this (not that I measure people maturity by age), I mean, they have a lack of wanting to learn, I've spend half an hour reading Metal Gear 3 manual and a few months reading and reading Falcon 4 BMS flight instruction manual while these guys can't even read a 10 page manual, what the hell is wrong with our "new generation"?? (sorry for actually getting into this subject on the last paragraph, but I had to express it) I just wanna tell that you and your team work is amazingly stunning! For the quality of information and time you guys put in it you deserved to have way more subscribers, I just can't give enough likes.

I have to say, you have some real Spirit to learn a language for the sake of playing games. Its really impressive that you've mannaged to do this. I am currently trying to learn German and Japanese for the same reason. Its difficult but i feel its worth it.
@ArcherAC310 жыл бұрын
adolfo estrada Exactly, I want so bad to learn Japanese and Latin, but I'm busy most of the time (with school mainly), and aside from English, these languages don't seem too popular on the internet (Latin at least), most of the times I do join a multiplayer server of a game, for example, I'll find more people talking english instead. Since the best way I used to learn english was from talking to other people while playing. "you have some real Spirit to learn a language for the sake of playing games." -> Yeah, like, it wasn't only for playing games (even though it was one of the main reasons), but it was because then I could read not only books in portuguese, but also english, I could have access to more information and websites, I could understand what channels like Vsauce and MinutePhysics were talking about haha, so basically I can't even think of living nowadays with only 1 language, limited to all this world of information.
@adolfoestrada628310 жыл бұрын
Arch3rAc3 Well in any scenario, learning a language with only yourself as motivation is impressive.
@ArcherAC310 жыл бұрын
adolfo estrada Thanks haha. But, what do you mean, usually people need others to motivate them to do so?
@adolfoestrada628310 жыл бұрын
Arch3rAc3 I live in California, and most of the people around me are to lazy to get of their ass, let alone learn another language. I'm happy to see there are more people willing to learn something because they want to learn. Most kids wouldn't do learn here if they weren't forced too.

A little more than 3 years ago I hated RPGs because I just wanted to play and not spend my time agonizing over attribute points and reading massive blocks of text (even though I actually love books, especially fantasy). So I only played games like Tomb Raider, Need For Speed etc. Basically, I just didn't want to think in my digital escape. But honestly, I really wasn't having that much fun as I felt I should have. I was getting rather bored with video games. Then a friend recommended me Mass Effect. I installed it, thinking it's just another Star Wars rip-off but resolved to at least try it out because I didn't want to disappoint my friend. And then, after a few hours of playing, meeting interesting characters, wondering at the fact that I could actually choose my responses in dialogue ... I found myself enjoying it so much more than I ever enjoyed mindless hack-and-slash and racing games. I fell in love with it - the story, the characters, the choices ... I wanted to kick myself for believing RPGs were boring. Mass Effect soon led to Dragon Age, Neverwinter Nights, Jade Empire, Knights of the Old Republic, and finally Skyrim. And the more I played RPGs, the more I loved the stories you could only find by researching the lore. And here I am today, playing games for the story rather than just for the sake of playing something, finding spending points on attributes/talents not annoying at all, infected with the "lore virus", installing Oblivion and seriously considering giving Morrowind a chance (its story sounds so much better than Skyrim's).

It's great to had found this channel... You're not only answer my questions about these games that I'm playing but you're making it more better so that the people who watch your video actually enjoying themselves. You have done a great job, can't wait to watch what you're going upload next.

Your voice is incredible for the documentary format that the channel is pursuing. I've been watching the Fallout series and it's incredibly well done. Like you said in the video, some people are too monotone and it makes their videos boring no matter how exciting the content might be, others are too excited and it makes them seem like they don't take the content as seriously as they should. The narration in these videos is an incredible balance between the two, it comes across as unbiased, but not disinterested and has kept me watching. That in and of itself is a feat that few youtubers can claim. Thank you for your hard work, and keep it up.
