For a runner 'It's a wonderful life' . Nice interview this was mentioned in the Kofuzi Run Club this week.

7:22 I really agree with this. It’s really a classic downfall of people where they try to fix a problem that exists, but create a new problem by taking it entirely way too far to the opposite end of the spectrum

great interview.., two of my favorite KZbin Runner personalities. I am wondering if I have ever used the term super trainer ?? hmmm.

A super trainer is a shoe that lands in between your race shoe and daily trainer. Where you can practice your long run at marathon pace so ideally it has a plate to simulate race conditions at least as much as possible

Could also be last years worn out racing shoe.

….or it could also be your brand new race shoe on which you want to put 20 or so miles (the sweet spot according to both my coach and most trusted running store friends) to be sure that particular pair isn’t going to give you any problems on race day. I don’t need a special category shoe for that. Otherwise, I just need a LR shoe that’s protective enough for well into the double-digit LR’s, yet versatile enough to pick up the pace when I’m assigned MP miles within my LR.

Great part 1 and 2 interview with Kofuzi. Really interesting back and forth. Though, that abrupt ending was a shocker. It's funny when you do that with your own air time, but I would kinda appreciate goodbyes in an interview. Call me old fashioned.

I like your previously talked about thoughts on a super trainer. More like tier 2 racers that just aren't quite on the same level as the top tier. endorphin pro, supercomp elite, artist, rocket x, etc.

Great interview/discussion…as a namesake R.O.B. (Runner on a Budget) I value hearing what kilometerage y’all are getting from your shoes typically (volume, use type and lifespan). Having been posing as a Midlife runner now for 12+ months I have 4 shoes in the 500km/300+ miles neighbourhood but they still deliver dependably, each week I’m wondering if it’s the week the tires are gonna blow….still getting love from them but this year/next purchase(s) will be moving away from Saucony(they have just fit/felt good) and try out some new brands to me, to spice up running life, LFG. Always appreciate your vids my friend. 🤘😎

@@pavolhorvath7850 k, please don’t tell my wife. I need her to think shoes disintegrate at 500km 😉 but seriously maybe I’ll hold off until the fall runners’ expo (/race) season and grab some deals

Thanks Rob! I can go on record and say performance drops after 160km so new shoes are necessary for race day (if your wife asks and you need a quote from someone on the internet

"Sometimes you know right away, sometimes after 5 minutes" - Kofuzi. Disagree, you 'think' you know, but you don't 'know'. Shoes can give a false first impression (in both directions) "out-of-the-box" and in the first 5 minutes. It cuts both ways. Every run is a 'conversation' with a shoe, it's a 'date'. Kofuzi 'speed dates' - and draws conclusions that may or may not be valid, off a micro moment. A shoe can plunge into a death spiral after 25-30 miles and wither away (once you get to know it), and it can blossom & show its true colors (dimensions of character that took time & conversations to draw out) and unless you put in those miles, you don't know, do you? Kofuzi, you might as well flip a coin 'after 5 minutes'.

I felt the same when I heard Kofuzi’s “know a shoe in 5 minutes” remark. Such a quick rush to judgement would never have allowed us to discover gems like the Boston 12, Adios Pro 3, or even the Superblast which can require as much as 20 miles to break in. All I can add is… 5 minutes is one hell of a way to feed confirmation bias instead of actually being informed.

He doesn't imply that he reviews based on that first feeling but based on 20 miles minimum

First statement: “I’m comfortable doing… for a lot of shoes… doing a review off of one run” Even for YT, where Kofuzi states 20-30 miles… by comparison, Yowana does a full week at 100 miles (like he did with Pegasus 41, Adizero SL2, and Triumph) to give the shoes a fair shot. My preferences don’t align with Yowana or Kofuzi all the time, but I know that I’ll get more nuance and context from Yowana because I know he thoroughly tested the shoes and his opinion is one I consider with more gravity.

@@domodoeslife4741 When he says he can sometimes 'figure out' a shoe in less than 1 mile of running (my interpretation of his words '5 minutes'), he no longer has an objective 'eye' and has introduced confirmation bias going forward, for the next 19 miles (according to you). It's a natural cognitive tendency to favor that which confirms our existing beliefs we've formed and to disregard or downplay that which contradicts them....and to say Kofuzi is not susceptible to confirmation bias is to say he's a 'super human' able to "figure things out right away" but not function in a natural cognitive manner.

He's stating HIS OPINION, so take it for what it's worth. He never said that everyone will feel the same way as he does. As for myself, when it comes to comfort, I can tell if I'll like a shoe within the first couple of miles, by five miles, I know for sure. Now, of course, if the shoe is poorly made, and it starts to fall apart by 50 miles, then that has to do with durability. However, with comfort, I know almost immediately.
