Is there such a thing as a sub-human? I mean, sociopaths and narcissists definitely lack key parts of humanity that we recognize and that is comfortable to recognize, however they have in spades the parts of us we never want to admit to ourselves and leave unchecked and that is self-interest. That is our disregard of empathy as soon as it stops suiting our own needs, and human or sub-human, we must all work on our consistent ability to imagine being in another's skin. Even if it isn't a one to one eidetic representation of another's life, a painting, a poem, a blueprint - is better than nothing, even if we hate them. I read about the hello kitty murders, the death cults with children, the molesters, the toolbox killers, so I understand what pure, primal hate feels like. I understand the odd and confusing desire for justice in the most over the top of ways, I mean why would anyone deprive themselves of a good Tarantino film for this very reason? But being born with these thoughts is a hell, not a sexuality. I really wanted to be burned at the stake for a while, my body falling to draconian fantasies upon draconian fantasies in KZbin comments, ready to contort itself. I have no idea what to do anymore

Luckily for those Japanese kids the age of consent is pretty high in most Japanese prefectures. The 13 thing is a minimum set by the Japanese federal government. Local government have made “corruption of minors” laws which effectively raise the age of consent.

Interestingly enough, Japan just lowered the age of adulthood from 20 to 18 in some areas. So Japan is very set on making 18 the defacto age of consent. There was actually a bit of buzz around it because it means porn actors now can be 18 instead of 20.

That's not exactly true. The age of consent is 15, period. Meaning that a 60yo can have sex with a 15yo. There is, however, another law that penalises sex with minors (as in, under 18) in some situations, like using money (so it outlaws underage prostitution) or position of power (so a teacher can't have sex with a high school student, even if they are above 15; but a university professor can have sex with a college student, as they are above 18).

Most of countries mentioned here with low ages of consent don't actually have the consent that low. Japan as the age of 13, but federally in almost all japanese states it was raised to either 16 or 18. In Germany the age of consent of 14 is for consentual sex between minors, not for adults. Just wanted Germany and Japan to not (edit) get bad press for that. I don't know what the situation is for Brazil.

Checking the law code, in Brazil, 14 is the consent age with several caveats. Prostitution isn't included and limited to above 18, and so are relations with those in a position of power.

But at the same time, I find the way discussion of pedophiles often devolves into gleeful and cruel fantasizing about maiming and killing such people to be uncomfortable if not outright disturbing. Some of it is hyperbole and joking, yes, but you can tell a lot of it is genuine. I agree the ones that actually abuse children are monstrous scumbags, but as a civilized society in the 21st century the answer to that isn't giving them equally monstrous punishments like castration, torture, or execution. We're better than that.

I know that has pass more than 1 year from the release, but as a brazilian i must say that the age of consent here is indead 14, but it's not well see by the majority of the people and have several laws that want to change to 18. The difficult to change this is the horrible fact that our country has come to a point that is not very rare to see 15 to 17 girls with 22+. i must say too that is still categorized as child abuse if a under 18 girl don't give the consent.

To be clear: Japan's law is that the minimum age of consent for every prefecture can't be below 13 but every prefecture has independently set it at 18. Effectively the age of consent in Japan is 18.

I live in Japan, and I have to correct the misunderstanding here. The "Age of Consent is 13" is an archaic law from hundreds of years ago, and has been overwritten by local prefectural laws (like "State Laws" in the USA) in EVERY SINGLE prefecture in Japan. The age of consent is actually 16 in almost all prefectures, but 18 in a few more. That's not to say the country doesn't still have a problem with what's known as "compensated dating" - where girls typically aged 15-18 get paid to date (and everything else) older business men. It's obviously illegal, but rarely does either party report the incident to the police, and Japanese police aren't exactly known for being proactive.

My understanding is that the National law acts as a double gotcha as well. If you're messing with kids under the national age of consent you get slammed both by the local prefecture and the national gov law. People think because Japan has all sorts of drawn media and such that it's some how more acceptable but, while it's not a perfect, they're def harder on crime than most folks realize. Remember Japan has a 99% conviction rate. In Japan you are Guilty until proven innocent.

To clarify: in a lot of countries (like Germany) the age of consent is technically 14 but this does not apply to adults. It's only between other children in that age group. As soon as one of the partners becomes 18 the situation is way more complicated until both are adults then its normal again

Japan's age of consent as 13 is actually kinda misleading. It's more of their federal bare minimum. Each of Japan's prefectures has their own age of consent, and it ends up being on average somewhere between 17 and 20. In other words, MAPs are gonna be hella disappointed lol

its real to me, so I hate them... less lol, more fuck the church. both my mother and father were raised as Christians, both molested, they raised me without any religious beliefs because of it. I realize faith CAN be a good thing, but because of everything along these lines I FIRMLY believe that organized religion is the worst thing that has happened to humanity. very rarely my mother talks about it... but when she does she talks about how intoxicating the mob mentality can be, how it makes you feel like you fit in, how it lets your guard down... I'll never forget how the church treated my parents, I'll never forget how the pope ACTUALLY protected and moved pedophiles out of the country... @@grimerime23 Honestly...I think you're right. Having been behind the scenes, I've had a hard time reconciling what I've seen with what I know God intended the church to be. When they talk about the church in the New Testament they're talking about God's people, not a building. "Church" has become a billion dollar industry...a place where men in power exploit the trust and loyalty of the faithful. I think we'll have to answer for that some day. Personally, I resigned from my full-time ministry role back in November 2020. Being part of that was starting to wreck my faith. I had to accept that we're all flawed...even pastors. And any institution that involves money and power will eventually be corrupted by men. But I also reminded myself that God's intentions for his people are good and pure. Jesus modeled for us a life of healing, grace and sacrificial love. Anything that seems to contradict the example he set is not from God, but born out of pride in our vain attempts to become God.

You can pray for them to be saved, HOWEVER, they still need to be held accountable and justice needs to be served for the child. From the bible, God has spoken in disgust to rewarding evil with good. And about not enacting justice. So I'm sorry that the church failed you and your parents and I'm sorry that people who claim to follow God did treacherous things in His name. As much as I'm Christian and I've seen the good and fellowship of the church, I've also seen the ugly of it, like the pastor said. The hypocrisy, they saying one thing and doing the other. Claiming to be Christian then doing things that Jesus could condemn. Preaching mercy then condemning someone if they make a mistake instead of speaking the truth in love and compassion(as Jesus did). And throughout history, people have done alot of atrocious things in the name of God. So, I'm not short of understanding your POV and where you come from, I've lost faith in the church/building, cause I've realized it's full of sinful people. And I've put my faith in God. Once I actually read the Bible, I realized alot of the hypocrisies in the church and contradictions in the church's beliefs and their actions.
