some great advice that i found in one of Laini Ozark's videos that came from one of her subscribers was to not buy shoes from a company that does not specialize in shoes. that changed the game for me because after i thought about it, my least comfortable shoes came from clothing companies and not shoe ones.

I'm always hyped for a shoe conversation! Great video. Whenever I'm in a style rut, I'll start my outfit with my shoes. It especially works when you prioritize shoe purchases as exciting shoes for your collection but even works for plainer styles.

Shoes cant really be fashion for me, i have very sensitive feet that hurt in almost any shoe so i cant really focus on a shoe being cute or to make good outfits around. If its comfortable and i actually can walk in it thats the dealbreaker. I love making outfits but shoes are strictly practical. Im jealous of people who go "pair it with these shoes" and have such a variety...i cant

I don’t know if your shoes have like shoe laces or are like velcro or just shove it in shoes, but maybe customizing it in some way could help like different shoe laces, pins, etc.

@@kerri6011I was even thinking even styling them with socks or leg warmers would maybe help

I don't have sensitive feet but I'm very conscious about foot health so I will not buy uncomfortable shoes but damn is it hard to find comfortable shoes and then on top of that try finding some that actually look good😩 it's like they purposely make shoes not fit actual human feet cause wtf
@simonemoses108127 күн бұрын
I just saw someone posting their small buisness designed for people with bunions and people where ranting and raving about how it also helped their other foot issues. It may be worth sleuthing them out. Also consider just being a sneaker head? Them people always where a sneaker but they have so much variety they are still able to style any look

I have wide feet and it's almost impossible to shop for shoes retail. I have to order them custom made from a shoemaker, and the cost is pretty high accordingly. There is also a problem of living in an apartment that has very little space for shoes - I can afford to have maybe 3-4 pairs per season. And I will spend months putting together a "shoe wardrobe" due to sheer cost and time it takes to have a pair made. This means I have to consider what colour and styles will be easy to style with a lot of my wardrobe and fit my style.

9:19 If the shoes are made of cheap synthetic materials, they will probably fall apart. I can't speak a ton about sneakers because I don't wear a lot of those. But when it comes to pumps, flats, boots and the like you will have better luck if the upper is made of natural materials (leather, canvas for example), and the sole is made of leather. Typically these kind of shoes are made with the assumption that you will repair them when the sole and heel wears down. So they're usually quite durable.

Lovely Video! My greatest struggle is to find the perfect shoe type- hem length ratio. Like you said knee high boots with culottes can be incredible whereas ankle boots could look very strange in this combo.

But shoes are meant to be worn. I love when a shoes looks well worn. I feel like if a designer shoes look worn sets you off, the value is still in the money and not the experience of wearing a well worn shoe.

As a fellow shoe perfectionist, I usually go for second hand genuine leather. You can get scuffs and light creasing out by just conditioning the leather, so they always look brand new! (The second hand thing is just because they're cheaper though)

My favorite pair of sneakers (from a major athletic brand) are the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn and once i wear the the tread and the outside wall, i replace them with a new pair. Theyre expensive ($180) but i know the cost per wear is reasonable since I wear them almost every day.

@Ohmyblueberriez28 күн бұрын
The only point I wanna share a different perspective on because I disagree with is buying shoes from a fast fast place such as an Instagram store. Yes it is affordable but the core of sustainability is longevity and consistency. You’re not getting quality shoes from a clothing brand like how I wouldn’t buy tires from a gas station. Shoes from an Instagram shop aren’t going to last you in the long run
@unproductivebestie28 күн бұрын
The instagram stores that get recommended to me are usually small businesses or businesses known outside of the US so I never really thought about them as fast fashion. But of course everyone should do their diligence to look into these instagram ads/stores! I wouldn't exactly say to steer away from instagram stores because it could just be a small hardworking business sponsoring their own store as an ad or a business in a different country trying its hand at the American market. Its kinda like throwing away the baby with the bath water haha😊😅
