From the first time I seen them (1979/Chicagofest) to the last time (25 August, 2015) their music stands still in time. Thank you Chicago, for writing and playing songs that make you stop, listen, and remember where you were, what you were doing, and let your mind take you there.

These two gentlemen between them have written so many great songs, classics that have stood the test of time. Then there's James Pankow's extraordinary brass arrangements which added so much to the songs.

Two of the most phenomenal men right there. Jimmy is really starting to look and talk like a very old man/old folks home resident. Somehow, Robert keeps his youth.

"Yeah, two 'phenomenal men' that I'm a huge fan of-- but man, Jimmy looks really old-- like he belongs in a home!" Who the fuck cares what Pankow looks like! He's fucking 70 years old, dude. What do you expect? Hello-- it's not 1982 anymore. I don't give a shit what they look like as long as they keep playing "Hold On" after "Hard For Me to Say I'm Sorry" and he's rocking the fuck out of his trombone! Really typical superficial shit. Yeah, he should go out and die his hair jet black, right? He should wear a wig, right? Gimme a break, Dave. It's the music, Dave.

It may have been all that cocaine Lamm snorted in the late 1970s and early 1980s.

They could have at least mentioned Peter in that interview. They made a lot of beautiful music together and for gods sake Peter and Robert were related through marriage for a number of years and their children are related. Just shows who is the bigger person of that group of three. Peter is, and he will always will be my favorite of the group.

Peter needed to go and do his own thing. The admittedly successful soft-rock sound that producer David Foster was keen to promote as the 'new' Chicago sound was fast overwriting the multi-singer rock 'band' sound that always made them a band rather than a singer, which is why Peter 'could' leave no harm done. As it stands, despite losing a good singer, Chicago was more than Cetera, and we recovered a more authentic 'ensemble' Chicago horn sound, minus the persistence of Peter Cetera's highly idiosyncratic vocals; and for those who wanted it, more persistent Peter Cetera vocals independent of Chicago.
@waltersimmons946

The reason they never mention Peter is because according to Cetera in a 1992 interview he said the original Chicago line-up made a rule that no one was allowed to say anything negative about other band members to the press. In that 1992 interview Cetera being an ex member by then said he DID NOT like Pankows type of songs and Cetera said the song SKIN TIGHT which he sang but written by Pankow on Chicago x was a "piece of garbage" but he had to sing it because it was his job. I think years of Cetera facing some rejection from the band members when he wrote a few song made him feel the way he did enough to say how he felt about songs he didn't care for that the other members had written. But Cetera did praise Robert Lamm as the best song writer in America till 1974. It was Lamm who encouraged Cetera to write songs and bring them to band back in the day. Drugs caused jealousy and egos flared when Cetera and Foster saved the band from extinction in the 80s. Lamm was in rehab at that point.@philosophicallyspeaking6463

I believe Peter and Robert get along, but Pankow and Cetera don't get along. It might've been over the performing the song Old Days in concert, Peter didn't like singing about Howdy Doody. I also think James was jealous of how Peter became the star of the band and envious of Peter's writing all of Chicago's hits in the late 70s and mid 80s.

Well deserved yes, but no Peter Cetera! Wrong. I read that they would defer his award until he is able to attend the event. Such crap. The man is 74 years old, just give him his award. He’s written some of my most memorable Chicago tunes as well as his own solo work. Shame on SHOF! And neither of these two paid any homage to their former bandmates’ contributions to their music. End rant !!

@@lamarravery4094 Unfortunately you are correct. Peter followed his soft-rock inclinations to currency and continued success. James and Robert, for not having a taste for the simpler tropes of soft-rock, persisted in 'the old' way even though double-albums and PROG died in advent of disco.

@@philosophicallyspeaking6463 Peter wasn't all soft rock, he wrote some rockers too and Robert and James wrote their fair share of ballads as well, so for them to blame Peter for making the band soft is just all hypocrisy.
