Mr Sanada has everything! I have watched and will continue to watch this brilliant actor whenever he appears. Respect! Whenever an actor of lesser skill shares his screen he actually seems to improve their work as they see and learn from a true master. Without apparently doing anything, every eye is drawn to him. He truly is a living treasure.

Hiroyuki steals every scene he is in, in every movie he is in. He is one of the best actors of our time and it sucks he’s lost in the crap we call actors in Hollywood. Brilliant man!!!

I absolutely agree with you that as soon as Hiroyuki appears in the scene, all eyes are on him and you just know that THIS IS GOING TO BE GOOD!!! The camera loves him!!! In all his interviews he is sooo humble and almost embarrassed by all the accolades being heaped on him, but that he so deserves!!! It's fun to see him as a quiet and reserved individual in these interviews, but then he turns on his acting switch and it's a total Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde persona! He's my favorite actor!!

He's a great actor. Love to watch him. He also gets more handsome with age. Stay safe.

Hiroyuki Sanada has been a superstar in Japan for many years as an actor not only in action, but also in singing, dancing, and serious dramas, but only recently, after a long period of struggle, he has finally become an actor that is recognized around the world. I'm super happy now. Thank you for introducing his career on your channel!

Wonderful rundown of his films. In addition, he’s a fantastic musician! And it was really him playing the jazz trumpet in the film ROUND ABOUT MIDNIGHT.

They forget the drama that is regarded as one of the best Japanese period dramas of all time. It is Taiheiki, starring Hiroyuki Sanada as the real-life Ashikaga Takauji, who became Shogun in the 1350s. You will be overwhelmed by his masterful performance and the sheer fun of the drama.

He was in almost every single frame, a real treat for his legion of fans. Actors might have the looks and the acting skills to carry the dramas, but no actors can do yabusame. I watched the 49 episodes about two years ago; I am rewatching "Taiheiki" now, two episodes a day.
In Wick 3 they didnt prefer Mark. Role was written for Sanada but few days befor start of filming, he was injured, so they had to find replacement very fast. But Mark was great as well. Great was that after this, they wrote another role in Wick 4 just for Hiroyuki. True friendship. 🙂

I loved him with the late great SONNY CHIBA. Before it's too late someone anyone please give this man his own martial arts movie! I know he did some way back in the day, but I'm talking now today. We've seen Jet Li, Donnie Yen, Jackie Chan, and Tony Jaa but we haven't seen Hiroyuki Sanada?! Also, I'm not talking about a movie that features him, I'm talking about a movie that he STARS IN! I'm also talking about a movie where his HAND TO HAND SKILLS are on full display. We've seen him with a sword plenty of times, I'd love to see his HAND TO HAND SKILLS showcased because HE DOES HAVE THEM!

Hiroyukiri Sanada prime is the best in the 80s. High flying HK cinema did him a solid action actor in 1982 " Ninja in the Dragon's Den" plus costar with Michelle Yeoh as her international foreign police partner in "Royal Warrior" 1986. His early Japanese film with Sonny Chiba in "Samurai Reincarnation" is a bit lacking cause he played a young supporting actor role as a revengful pupil even though the movie plot was good which inspire to create an animation called Ninja Scroll. I didn't know that he played the brutally murderous husband in the movie "Ring/Ringu" 90s film. I remembered watching the horror movie and didn't realize it was him cause of the beard he had on. 😅 This movie is horrifying. Girls and friends were freaking out during the movie night. 🤣 Ringu makes Michael Myers, Jason and Freddy looks like a child on a Halloween night trick or treating.

To have had an acting part with Sony Chiba as a youth and literally be involved in dozens maybe even close to 100 significant films playing in most cases the leading parts and then be involved in Producing as well as acting, I would think puts him in a position which no other actor whether Hollywood or Japanese cinema, he out-shines everyone else in the history of cinema... Yet he is still under paid and under valued!

I had heard when they made the original Shogun in 1980, Toshiro Mifune was really committed to the role of Lord Toranaga. I heard Hiroyuki here was similarly committed and now I understand why. And I can't shake this feeling that if Chozen Togychi got a spin-off from Cobra Kai (which I personally would make a feature film, not a series) this gentleman should play his arch enemy.

LOL Dude, you have some issues. He is an actor. You think Tom Cruise, Michael Douglas, Paul Newman, Robert Redford, Tom Hanks, Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert Downey Jr. Harrison Ford et al. earned an Oscar every time they play a role? Don't you know that even if you're a great actor, your chances of landing an Oscar winning role, from an award winning SCRIPT, with a performance that goes with it.... are VERY LOW?
