How did Monse not expect this? Ohtani already had 46 home runs in a season doing double duty as a starting pitcher in 2021. At the beginning of the year, i expected him to hit 50 - 60 home runs because he wasn't going to be burned out from pitching like he was in 2021 and 2023. I also expected him to steal around 45 bases because he was also not being burned out from pitching. So, this was already expected for those like me who watched every single Angels game since Ohtani came over from Japan. (yes, i watched every single Ohtani game since 2018, i'm half Japanese). Ohtani is carrying a whole country on his back and nothing surprises us anymore about him. The only thing that surprised me about Ohtani in his career was that it took him this long to get his first 5 - 5 game, his first 6 - 6 game, his first 3 Home Run game, his first 10 RBI game, his first walk-off Home Run, and his first walk-off Grand Slam. And he did ALL of that in just 2 days. His 40/40 game and his 50/50 game. The only thing left for Ohtani to achieve now is a Cy Young, a No-Hitter, and a World Series.

But, but, but Lindor is mvp because he plays defense

Yes. As NY media says, even if Shohei had hit 100 HRs and 100 SBs 2024 he is not MVP due to defense. Lindor is the greatest after Aaron Judge in MLB.

How many sports fans are impressed MLB with Lindor? Almost no one talks about him outside of the MLB. In contrast, what Shohei is doing is amazing and attracting many new baseball fans. In this regard, Shohey deserves the title of MVP.
