its not a lie and being a youtuber doesnt make anyone a professional. ohtani isnt receiving thousands of dollars a minute. hes getting 2 million dollars from the team for every year of his contract. fans thoughts on player contracts are utterly irrelevant. ohtani betts and freeman ALL HAVE DEFFERRED PAYMENTs.

My point is that the $700 million number is essentially irrelevant. MLB is valuing it as a 10-year, $460 million deal for luxury tax purposes because that’s the present value of future cash flows. Ohtani’s agent just wanted the biggest number possible, and it doesn’t even provide the dodgers that much cap relief because MLB’s CBA requires teams to place deferred payments into an escrow account within two years of when it was earned.
