I honestly just felt bad for Ohtani and Trout still. Never being in the playoffs and only having one appearance. From top of my head never really in the race. My team is my team I will always root for them but I’m a huge fan of baseball it’s my sport so I love watching great players play in great moments. Probably outside of Dodgers fan base I was crushed when I found out the Astros cheated and then Jomboy’s breakdown of game 5 Kershaw. In my mind they robbed the dude the chance of being World Series MVP. He pitched amazingly in game 1 had he won that game 5 convincingly no question he would have got it.

I hate that for you. Part of me wants to say …Pick a new team. But I know that’s not how it works. I’ve been a Cubs Fan my whole life so I know losing players doesn’t make you love your team less. The only bad thing I can say about this contract is that he went to a team that is going to contend with or without him. For example if he went to the cubs, it would be a bigger thing that he himself led the cubs from a 83 win team to a 95 win team or whatever. He is the reason why they are in this spot and I think that would be better for the sport seeing him in a team with a way more passionate fan base. That is the only reason I could say it is bad for baseball.

The baseball pundits should be ashamed at how giddy they were to see Soto go to the Yankees and Ohtani go to the Dodgers. They literally said this was good for baseball regardless of what it does to at least 27 other teams that could never afford these player. You have 4 or 5 teams that can pay at this level. The majority of the teams are only relevant every 10 years or so, maybe for a few years before they have to trade them because they can't afford them. So, really it's only about 5 teams that really matter to the networks. Just listen to them.

That's how it works in sports. You need the big clubs, the villains, the endless wells of money to get paid out to the biggest stars in order to have a successful league. The Cincinnati reds aren't international, they're not household, they don't sell out, they don't attract big athletes and celebrities. Those 10s kf thousands of local reds fans are drawfed by the millions of yankees/dodgers fans around the globe. You need the Yankees and dodgers to draw new fans in. And for fans to heavily root against. There's a reason why dbacks/rangers was the lowest rated WS in recent years.

As a Jays fan, it's disappointing, although expected. He would have been embraced by an entire nation here. Could he have fixed the Jays? Maybe not... but he would have made them better. $700 million though... wow.. for a guy who is just coming off Tommy John. Maybe the Jays dodged a bullet? We'll have to see.. time will tell. I just hope Jays fans don't boo Shohei when he comes up to T.O... Free Agency is well earned by ball players, and they should be allowed to choose the contract and team they want. Posey was just a great ballplayer and better dude who played the game right while on and off the field. I hate the Giants but I never actually booed Posey even when he was winning WS rings. Lifelong Angels fan here. This past weekend was sad, as I came to realize my favorite player of all time is actually gone for good. Hurts even more that he went over to LA, but I get it (and would probably have made the same choice). I hope the Angels build around the likes of OHoppe, Neto, Sandoval, and Detmers. Resigning Shohei would have been awesome, but still won’t fix our atrocious ownership/chances of winning. Hopefully now that Shohei is gone, Arte will sell the team now that his cash cow is no longer here. And we build from the ground up, and win a ring before LA. Because they are still gonna choke first round just like they do every year 😉
