Like someone said, the game have more routes, and the anime just took one of them, but even in that ending it leave the possibility of another timeline open to try to fix everything. It seems if the game sold well we could get another season with a continuation of the current ending, sadly... The game didn't sell enough, but is not that sad, think about it, the ending leave us an opportunity that the next time the main character return probably can fix what happened in that timeline.

@@soragranda the manga served as an epilogue to the anime series, so there's that also, the game has the 'vilainess-redeems-herself-by-sacrificing-her-life-to-save-her-friends' ending, which is much better than the one from the anime
