Shonen Jump vs Capcom: The First Step

Capcom Officially announced a crossover for Street Fighter 6 with Spy x Family. This is really hype news on it's own but what if this is just the beginning? What if this is just to test the waters to see how much people are interested in this crossover with the Shonen Jump company? Let's take a look at what could happen if this idea takes off.

Agreed, I know Jump Force had the 3 man battle system like MvC2/3 but the functionality and the aesthetic didn't mesh with the concept they were going for.

I prefer separate games but I'd definitely play this crossover. It's a wonder to me how in the world aren't there more good anime competitive fighting games. These companies need to wake the hell up and do these series justice.

Woah just the thought of Goku side to side with Ryu its just a bliss, they already crossover with anime stuff like Tatsunoko VS capcom so a Jump VS capcom aint that off the table, capcom have also made some anime games like Jojos bizzare adventures.

I didn't look at the video fully, but did you mention that Capcom did made JoJo bizarre adventure on the PS1 and Dreamcast? At that time it was the closest that we ever got for Shonen jump versus Capcom. If they only add either morrigan or demitri from darkstalkers ( because of the same similar art style ) it would have been more hype for the two universes come together

correction :2.5D is just a term for a 2d fighting game plane in a 3d molded world so sf6 sf5 mk1 and so on

Ah okay thanks, so the term 2.5D was around before fighterz. That was the first I had heard of it in terms of the character models being described as that. I also heard that with the models in GG as well.

That's not what 2.5D means. 2D is your classic Street Fighters, Guilty Gears, Mahvek Baybees. Even Smash is 2D. Your movement is limited to the X and Y axises. 3D is your Arena Fighters. Naruto Storm. Tenkaichi. Kill La Kill If. You can run around with full 360 degree movement as well as jump, fly, and other vertical movement types depending on the game, covering the X, Y, and Z axises. And then you have 2.5D. Which is almost exclusively Tekken and Soul Caliber (and Naruto Clash of Ninja and Budokai). You move forward and backward on the X axis and can jump to some degree to move on the Y axis. Where 2.5D differs from 2D is the ability to Sidestep, moving off the 2D plane you're on onto another one. This isn't true 3D movement as with Arena Fighters. You aren't freely moving on the Z axis. You're just taking a quick, set distance step through it before getting back to 2D. It's an ultimately small change that doesn't drastically change how characters need to be built. Hence why Tekken characters translate well into Street Fighter's system. Or Street Fighter and KoF/Fatal Fury characters translate well into Tekken's system. Or characters from BOTH translate well into Smash. Because they're all built on the same system of "2 guys viewed from the side, facing each other at all/most times and only ever moving towards, away from, or over/below each other".

Manga is essentially comic book but Japanese style. So it's more accurate to say Japanese comic books are more popular than American comic books nowadays. With that said, I'd enjoy Shonen Jump Versus Capsule Computers crossover Fighter-game. In fact, I'd love Capsule Computers to hire me in charge of a development team for the hypothetical crossover Fighter-game. In the circumstance that Capsule Computers does hire me, I can at least verify that some of my after-school students enjoyed Shonen Jump and videogames by Capsule Computers!🧠👨🏻‍🏫👨🏻‍💻🎮😆

I would imagine all for one and M Bison making a deal to still everyone's powers and i would love to see Frieza vs Pyron it would be a awesome match and it would be cool to see deku and Morgan and Zoro and Tron cuz green team. Or deku and sakura as a team up fan boy and fan girl and it would be SO AWESOME if Goku and Ryu training together and also Roshi and goken and be cool to see Naruto and Strider hiryu on a ninja mission and Dhalsim and Luffy.
