The world building is pretty subtle, but you can really immerse yourself in it. The story and the characters strongly revolve around the theme and you can really feel it. I don’t know if there’s any way to prove this idea, but when you mentioned Shonen Jump’s superior infrastructure, I was left wondering how much of the magazine’s international fame is due to better business planning. Not to say “it’s all marketing” or anything like that, just that Shonen Jump has always seemed to have a better international business plan in place compared to its competitors.
@TrentinArt6 ай бұрын
It absolutely has! A part of that is because for a long time the manga has been labeled under Shonrn Jump whereas the other magazines rarely if ever get mentioned outside of Japan. Individual series have found success though for sure. It helps bigtime that there's been various international versions of Jump too, including the US one

People can hate it or call it "unfair" but the sink-or-swim approach Jump takes in it's series also really only allows the best of the best to thrive (well for the most part)

For me personally, Jump was the only magazine name I ever heard of, thanks to Bakuman. I feel like if you wanted to make an all encompassing sociological history of manga, the 3 that HAVE to be mentioned are Astro Boy, One Piece, and Bakuman. It's crazy how many people learned so much of their manga knowledge from Bakuman, even though it wasn't the highest selling or anything. Also, there are bunch of other series that name drop Jump (mainly thinking Roboco, I think Gintama did too, and even some serious stories) so even a clueless little nerdy brat pirating anime on the other side of the world can hear their name. Nowadays, yeah I would say it's the infrastructure. I read every new mangaplus series because it's so easy to, and I don't really have time to explore new stuff outside of Jump because of that. I feel a bit bad about it but probably won't change that habit any time soon.
@Bighomie39Ай бұрын
Also, Jump+ has been amazing for supplementing the main magazine, with bangers like Dandadan and CSM Part 2 rivaling the popularity of Jump's A-tier sellers (think Haikyuu, Undead Unluck, or Sakamoto Days)

Tougen anki (can't remember the English name, you can find it online by now) is another really good one from shounen champion, Getting an anime soon too and its been selling really good. It is generic, But its super action packed. Great fights, power system, and characters. Everything about this series screams "next big series that isn't shounen jump" its not gonna be as big as beastars or blue lock, but it has potential. These other magazines don't have a stigma on what should be allowed or what needs to sell. So as long as you don't cross the line (which is relatively thin nowadays) almost anything can make it big. There can be series like beastars, common ones like baki or blue lock, or entirely different series. It's good seeing previous author's like the author of inuyasa move to these magazines. Even if its not as popular, your series is sure to blow up with the right audience and the fact that these magazines don't have a strict deadline or structure that picks and chooses as much and WSJ
@TrentinArt5 ай бұрын
Definitely will check out Tougen Anki eventually! Rumiko the author of Inuyasha has always been a Sunday mangaka, I don't think they moved there. And these magazines do operate similarly to Jump, just a bit less ruthless but they cut series that underperform to bring in new stuff all the time ... its just how magazines work. And while each of these features lots of different manga, so does Jump, I don't really appreciate the demonising of it.

I'm not obligated to be loyal to Shounen Jump when they're putting out Manga that I don't like. Well it's the biggest because it's the most publicly available and easily accessible as well as a having a ton of popular series. It's not necessarily peoples fault that it's all they know. Thyere "bad practice of cancelling manga thats too creative and not cliche enough" also extends to these other magazines too, it's how they work. Jump might be a bit more aggressive with that strategy, but things that are popular and sell stay, things that don't go. Authors know what theyre signing up for when they get serialized. Could it improve, sure! But also i dont think you quite know what your talking about

This seems very interesting But I have to say, the audio is pretty low. Could you raise the volume overall?
@TrentinArt6 ай бұрын
Oh wow I havent had a comment like that for a long time. I think the audio for the last batch of videos I recorded was a bit lower than usual but its still really loud for me when its at max volume so I thought it would be fine. Should be something that I fix in future uploads. If your on PC you can set your volume mixer higher if it isnt maxed out already

Never expected to get a boobie jumpscare from this channel. Kinda shocked that these are shonen covers though considering that jump only does these gravure shots for their seinen line like young jump.

Haha I think u did the same thing in my first video. And yeah it still wows me that Jump is the only one out of the 4 which says away from it.

I was excited for the Viz Oneshot program, and thought the manga they would pick could really create an American Shonen Jump, but the oneshots look more like academy award winners, than commercial manga you would see in Japan, maybe since Shueisha is a co -owner of Viz, they don't want to pick anything that could compete with Shonen Jump...truly sad and a wasted opportunity

I'm not too knowledgeable about that but it seems kind of interesting so I might look into it at some point

It's interesting and I don't know how many are interested in really delving deep. It doesn't help that the only one we have lots of access to is shonen Jump. But I'm hoping that changes over time! ☺️

I think the comment about blue lock being super gay is hilarious, it's the whole reason I don't watch or read any male sport manga/anime they all have super obvious gay undertones, it's so weird and a turn off when trying to get in to a series. Don't get me wrong I have nothing against gay people but it's not something I want to read about or watch
@TrentinArt6 ай бұрын
It really isn't that big a part of it, I drastically make it way more gayer than it is because I think its fun, and undertone-wise a lot of sports series are just guys being physically close, if that bothers you I'm sorry but that might be some baggage you have to work through.
@Scyon136 ай бұрын
@@TrentinArt 🤣🤣🤣 maybe idk though I played plenty of team sports growing up bro, I don't remember it being as sus as some these anime/manga make it out to be, but maybe that's just my perspective and a bit of anime exaggeration.
@Dave1026936 ай бұрын
Those stories are made more for women who love men being gay with each other. I don’t see it as a problem imo; at least it’s not cringe like Swim or Black Clover lite like how Haikyaku is.
