There is something just amazing about Andy and it far surpasses his playing ability. I must say I was very thankful to have found his page sometime ago. His dedication to music and his willingness to share his knowledge, his musical idols, and his thoughts about the industry make him the best in the business. To say he is the best guitarist alive today is simply a statement of fact. Nobody plays the vast, diverse mix that Andy does and at such a monster level. Acoustic, electric, mandolin, and yes . . . Skankbanger, there is but one. Thanks for the lessons, Vidami push (amazing pedal) and just being someone positive in a day where that is not so common. Look forward to catching a live show one day in some capacity!! Great song here btw.

Great performance. Love these live studio sessions. Vai did a lot of stuff like this - riffing over a root. Makes me wonder if Philip Bynoe was your bass player. Fun fact ... I never looked Phil up for years but based on Steve introducing the band on one of his live albums, I thought his name was Phil Albino (which seemed amusing for a black man). I would love to hear your take on The Riddle. Maybe not a cover of the song, but just some fun with modes. I think that was the song that taught me about the concept of modes. Of course, that was way before internet - I had no idea that is was called "modes" or was even "a thing" - I just heard these magical Steve Vai scales which I later figured out were just different major scales over the same root. A cool trick I figured Steve and I alone grokked after I had that e[epiphany. It was years later I learned it was a common musical device.
