I get better mpg's after wing night myself, especially cuz pizza is on special that night too, I do half & half, water tho, no beer. That would destroy the "fuel lines."

I really love this era of cars, anything between the 80s to the mid 2000’s makes me so happy! I wasn’t alive when these cars were being made, but I grew up with a lot of people who had them. So it always makes me happy when videos of these cars are posted on KZbin!

I love the "AA" body cars. Would love a 2.5 Spirit or Acclaim, but with the very poofy velour seats from the Lebaron sedan (which only came with the 3.0 mitsubishi V-6). Most of the FFV methanol versions of this went to municipal fleets. These are so comfortable, roomy, and easy to drive. Great visibility, feels somewhat like a big car, but easy to navigate and park.

Back in the day when my Caravan was being serviced they would give me these as a loaner. They were quite fine and pretty roomy inside. I think the 2.5 was fairly smooth.

I used to have a first generation Chevy Lumina that I drove until it was way past its prime. This meant that whenever I went to wrecking yards, I was always scouting for various parts and pieces for my car, or at least took notice of the 1990-94 Luminas that were in there. I once spotted a methanol flex fuel Lumina in a Phoenix wrecking yard... I knew that they existed, but this was the only one I'd ever seen in the flesh. The one thing that clued me in right away was the additional digital display on the dash that told you the methanol/gasoline percentage. As I understand, these were a "compliance car" produced for sale in California, and never sold in large numbers. I'd guess that fuel availability and price were something that played into their low acceptance- sort of like where hydrogen is at today.

Same dash binnacle as my 87 Daytona lol. I always liked the Spirits, they look so respectable and square and old-fashioned, but just a little smoothed out by that 90s facelift they got after their previous lives as Reliants and so on.

I never cared much for Mopars but the Spirit always tickled my love for small boxy cars of the late 80s/early 90s. The FFV version is especially cool... In middle school as a science project I tried to make methanol from cow manure but all I got was stinky!

The last gasp of the K-cars. Fun Fact: The FFV version of the 2.5L Engine was the ONLY MPI non-turbo version of the 2.2 or 2.5L ever produced. All other versions were turbocharged. The intake manifold itself was lifted from the 2.5L Turbo I engine.

This car looks so early 90s. It's interesting to see these attempts at multi-fuel cars and I've never heard of methanol being used in road cars. Nice to see one still rolling around.

In 90s entire Europe and some other countries went crazy about NG/ LPG systems in cars and they worked and were cheap. Somehow US and Canada didn't follow that trend and methanol powered cars were one of the options tried.

Awesome when I was 2 years old my father bought a brand new 92 Dodge Spirit R/T. Definitely badass for a turbo 4 cyl especially for the 90s. Stock it had 225 HP and 0-60 in a little over 5 secs. My father had his topped at 147 mph several times when I was a kid. Awesome times. Essentially it was kinda like a Hellcat of the 90s. This 94 you showed is really cool and I really hope it goes to someone that takes care of it and realizes how cool it is nowadays. Back in the day unless it was an R/T it was very common. The ES still looks nice though and a lot like an R/T with the cladding

I agree despite being a smaller car for its time, it is surprising large on the inside. I loved riding in my grandparents one vs. my father's larger exterior but smaller interior Oldsmobile Cutlass Ceria. I think the whole mistake choice to make cars like this, minivans, and normal trucks FFV was a big mistake. None of these vehicles required anything more than 87 octane. Whether methanol or ethanol, these were more racing fuels taking into The much higher octane level. If they wanted to offer flex fuel vehicles, they should have put it in models that needed premium fuel such as sports cars because either The choice of going with ethanol or methanol having a lower cost compared to premium fuel provides a better potential cost ratio than regular cars that only need 87 octane. The other advantage is many sports cars are the types that will be modified and the owners want to get as much octane as they possibly can. There's cases where people will use e85 and cars that weren't built for it for the octane. It's not recommended to do as it can damage the system since these vehicles are not flex fuel capable.

The Spirit was oddly my third favorite car when I was growing up. Mopar got these wrong when companies were switching to less boxy shapes for their cars. But I'd still take one of these over a Tempo or a Corsica.😊
