Wow… 304,000 miles! I just bought a 2005 yesterday with 150,000 miles on it for just under $5000. I don’t know much about cars, so basically had my fingers crossed that I was buying something that would last me a long time. This really gives me hope that I made a wise decision.

@@LightSkinBadiee I sold my Lacrosse in April of this year - it had close to 320,000 miles😉 And yes, regular maintenance, every 3000mi - add Lucas oil treatment - same transmission, never rebuilt - big things to replace will be the steering rack and pump about every 100,000 miles - and don't buy a car from that era if it has any rust - I've owned more than 30 cars in a lifetime, so any other questions, let me know 👍

@@jeffconsiglio1307check the coolant elbows. If they’re plastic and haven’t been upgraded they WILL crack and leak. $10ish part and you can do it yourself if you have a ratchet/wrench and about 30 minutes of your time. Otherwise as long as you don’t do burnouts🤫 you’ll be fine

I love this sedan with the seating configuration. The last midsized sedan with front split bench seats and column shifter. This also has the bulletproof 3.8L GM engine which I like! Totally would drive this over anything else to be honest. It's modern and old school too.

I grew up In a lesabre with the 3800 Series2. I was the only one in my family who actually liked the car. Since growing up in the back seat of a Buick they always will have a spot in my heart whether they are just slapping badges on crossovers saying it’s a Buick or not. I’ve been considering a Buick with this engine as my next car, and this video just gave me another option so thanks!

That front bench seat that turns into a console was just like the Ford Taurus/Mercury Sable of the same age. I made my sister sit in the middle once, her knees were up against the radio and she's very short. It's definitely a kid's seat. I miss my column shifter, it was so convenient to change gears without taking my hand off the wheel. This is undoubtedly an old person's car but it looks like a comfortable big cruiser. This was when GM still put thickly padded leather thrones in for seats before they went to hard thin "leather". My grandmother had an '04 Regal with the supercharger and every option but the sunroof and it was so comfortable. She traded it shortly before I came of driving age and I wish I'd been able to drive it. The fully-optioned Cruze that replaced it is one of the least comfortable cars I've ever squeezed into.

Sadly my son passed away on November 12, 2020 due to organ failure he was 22 years old. I still have his car in my driveway and currently working on it to get it back up and running so I can use mainly as a spare vehicle between me, my mom, and younger brother and for days I don't feel like driving my 2003 GMC Sierra because of current gas prices. The main weak point of the 3.6 was timing chains. In Australia Holden marketed these as the Alloytec used in the Vz and early Ve series I commodore and had timing chains that would stretch but allegedly fixed from late 2007. My mechanics wife has a Ve series I and it’s alloytec has managed 400,000 km however my mechanic is a stickler for quality oils and maintenance. My 2013 Vf series I sv6 has the direct injected 3.6 has 147,000 km or 90,000 mile and despite a very slight intermittent timing chain rustle that is barely noticeable this engine has been great. Use Petronas synthetic oil, 98 octane premium fuel, respect it never flog it when cold it still very reliable and never had its chains touched. Also very powerful and economical not hard to average 30 mpg or better highway driving.

I have a 2005 Buick LaCrosse since 2010. It has been a very reliable car. The only problem I have run into is that Buick stopped manufacturing the tumbler. So, when I took it in a few years ago to a dealership, I could not get the tumbler repaired there. I made the decision to keep the car, (since it still ran well,) and just deal with the stubborn tumbler, which is part of the ignition. Now, I have run into an additional problem getting the car started. I had a battery diagnostic run, and that wasn't the problem. So, I am going to take the car to an independent garage that can order both new and used parts, and try to keep it running until I can no longer drive.

Nice review! Brought back so much grandparent nostalgia. When you mentioned the taillights, I thought you were going to talk about the taillights not stretching across the entire rear. As far as I remember, the first gen Lacrosse was the first Buick in well over a decade to not have the taillights as a bar across the rear, instead they had those accent lines that corresponded with the reverse lights.

In Canada, the LaCrosse was subsequently renamed Buick Allure. Turns out that "LaCrosse" in parts of Canada, such as Montreal, where French is commonly spoken, "LaCrosse" was a slang term for something obscene. La Crosse owners were able to return to their Buick dealers to have the LaCrosse emblems removed and replaced with Allure emblems.

Good video. I actually loved the last generation (E2XX Chassis) of LaCrosse/Allure much more than all of them and the 2010-2016 (Epsilon II Chassis) more than this W-Body reskin of the Century/Regal, but that's just the styling inside and out. The magic words in this video however, are "3800 Series III." The most reliable and best six-cylinder motor GM has ever produced and that notchback front seat with center cushion, cause some of us proud fat people appreciate the spread-out room you can't get with a full front console. The owner should high-five themselves for meticulously taking care of this Buick sedan. This is a great car to own! 🐰

I had an ‘07 CXL which I got from my parents in 2013; my Hyundai Sonata needed a new engine and I decided I’d rather take it to auction than spend more than the car was worth. My Mom stopped driving and my Dad preferred their Toyota, even though he had bought the Buick for himself to replace his older LeSabre which he loved. So he brought the LaCrosse out so I could use it until I bought another car (nearly bought an Altima and really glad I didn’t). Eventually they just decided to sign the title over to me. He had bought it used in 2009 (ironically the same day I bought my Sonata), and for some reason he couldn’t figure out it had a very loud vibration / groaning noise. (Pretty sure that’s why my Dad didn’t like driving it.) After I took possession of it, I first attempted to have the wheels balanced; the shop showed me one of the rims was bent. I found a used one at a local salvage yard; they also were able to mount a good used tire for me as the existing tire was blistering badly. No more noise. (I did get a full new set of tires shortly thereafter.) I found that while it was a CXL with the 3800 engine, it had a package that included the 17” chrome CXS wheels, front bucket seats, and I think also traction control (not the higher-end Stabilitrak or whatever). Only didn’t have a sunroof; I had an aftermarket sunroof installed in 2014. I also found a hack on the Internets where you can tap into a couple of the wires going to the back of the stereo, to add an external AUX jack. That was a big upgrade from trying to use my clunky FM transmitter to play my iPod. On a really long highway cruise I could get around 28 mpg. I let my friend borrow it while I was out of town on business (and had a rental car); he and his family drove from Michigan to Illinois to visit his dying aunt. On the way they hit a deer on the highway, which did enough damage that the car was eventually totaled. But everyone was safe, and they did get to see the aunt before she passed away.

If you want an engine more powerful than the 3800 and super reliable, consider a Toyota with the 2GR-FE engine. I like sedans more than crossovers and SUVs especially if the sedan in question has an adult-friendly backseat. Crossovers were originally meant as a replacement for the station wagon though but, the trend has gone way overboard. I wish I could 3d print my own electric car so I can customize it just like I would a custom-built gaming PC. I would go with a 90s Saturn-inspired body.

Nice Buick LaCrosse yes, it's low in tech by modern standards and I think it's a nice vehicle for the Era but not so much by today's standards. Plz reply Shooting Cars.

I have a 2006 Lacrosse CX model only 88,000 miles on her. Bought her in may of 2022 with only 68,000 miles on her. Question has anyone ever had their transmission serviced/flushed in these would you say it is necessary? Do not believe precious owner ever had it serviced

The 3800 predates 1991. They were in tons of 80s Buicks including the 1986 Buick riviera. The first year the riviera went exclusively to v6s. Love the video but it’s incorrect about the 3800.
@iluvcamaros1912
@iluvcamaros1912 11 ай бұрын
Yeah as a proper "3800" it dates to the late 80s, but the basic Buick V6 itself dates to the 1960s. GM changed it a lot over time to turn it into the "3800."

Buick does best in china, and I believe that’s blatantly obvious. The smaller engine sizes and the whole car design feels very Asian and not at all domestic
