Yes, they sold something similar, if not the same thing, in Japan as the Elgrand.

I have a 2012 with 171000 miles and still is very dependable. No oil leaks from any portion of the engine or transmission. Oil changes every 5000, transmission fluid changes every 70,000 and it’s doing very well, also 3 coolant changes. For anyone’s information, that center console between the center seats is removable for easier access to the rear seats. Also the center seats slide and are adjustable that will give you more room in the rear seats with a bit of adjustment. That “trunk” is very big and you can put about 10 bags of groceries in there and you will be able to put the floor on it and still put items on top.

We had a 2012 quest until last year and it was a great road tripper, and I liked that it looked “different”. Unfortunately a pizza guy pulled out in front of it and totaled it :(

Find another Quest, or just get a modern minivan from Toyota or Honda.

We also had a 2012 SL. It was fantastic and loved that it looked so different from the other vans. It was very comfortable, felt premium and very reliable. And I loved the drop down 3rd row. The downside was that it was a 7 seater, the front storage wasn’t great, and most importantly - it completely failed the IIHS small overlap front crash test. That really hurt the value of the car.

I'm actually looking at buying this for our family vehicle. It's solely going to be used for extracurricular activities and road trips. I have a newborn, 1 year old, and an 8 years old. I need space, convenience, and that's what this offers. Great review !

It’s definitely a yes! I have 3 kids and a baby on the way. It’s very spacious, comfortable, silent and interesting. My kids loves it!!! I just recently bought one and I loveeee it! It’s very simple and easy to use. :) Oh, it was a decent price, too!

Nice one, Zach! When you showed a Trailblazer SS, that should have been your parents’ choice! But only SS version with a big V8! I hope the Pacifica served your family well though. Twas a good choice.

Have 2008 Quest SE, 158k miles, the mpg is pretty bad now but the 3.5 is still great, thig drives like a sports minivan, I really like the look on these models, better then older model imo.

Nissan CVT transmission not bad if you do service it time to time. Main thing for CVT transmission is it's save the engine in any kind of driving conditions. Engine RPM not change like regular 10 speed transmission do. Up and down. Save the engine for long run and so do the transmission work hard. Check Toyota sienna 2022 it's one drivetrain with CVT. Nissan took the very high risks to put CVT in vq engine in 2011 Nissan quest.

I have a 2011 SL version, bought new and we are very happy. Very comfortable, decent mileage and so far very reliable. We use it basically in highways. Regarding CVT, what I have done is to change transmission fluid every 20k moles or so. My plan is to keep it for several more years. Maintanance have been cheap, so far the most expensive has been front wheel hub bearing, which is a DIY job (around $200.00 for two).

Oh man. I never thought I would be missing our 2012 Quest, but I am now thanks to you. It was a great road-tripper. Dependable, good room in the third row, decent power from the engine. A bit thirsty at times, but expected from a tried-and-true V6. This was the underdog to the Sienna, the Odyssey, the Town & Country, etc. It was priced as such -- probably the only one priced under $30k (sans the Korean minivans, although they were getting really pricey at the time & had insanely finnicky electronic gremlins). Backseats could actually handle passengers up to 5' 8" comfortably. The trunk space under the false floor could fit one of those 5'8" passengers too. TRULY Max capacity? 14 people, some with & without seatbelts (ho boy that's a story to tell). You want to see the Quest's prowess on a track? There's a guy who had some fun with his wife's Quest. Great control of such a large vehicle. Check it out: kzbin.info/www/bejne/emPYgWuhfsuEaas The front lights/grill of the Nissan Quest is certainly seen in the 2023 Nissan Ariya. Because of that fascia, I actually might consider the Ariya :) Great vid, and thanks for the memories of an awesome minivan I used to own :)

Pretty sure it didn’t sell well because it had one of the worst crash test results out there and that it wasn’t as good as the rivals.

I rarely say this, but you are an excellent reviewer. P.s I would have added the common issue especially since the transmission was a major and common one. So much so that there was a class action lawsuit in the works last time i checked. I think that (too) contributed to its downfall.

No that is not correct. Nissan Quest came out in early 1990's (1993) as a joint venture with Ford, which is why the Mercury Villager is the exact same car, except the trim. The joint venture ended with the 1995 model and Nissan continued it on their own till 2017. If anyone needs to get parts for a 1993-95 Nissan Quest or Villager, you can, so long as the same models/years still exist at the wreckers or someone's backyard. Parts are inter-changeable between the Quest and Villager for those years only. Some mechanical parts are still available from Auto Supply stores. I know this because I have a 1993 Nissan Quest, still running fine at 416,000+ kilometers. - yep, original engine and transmission.

I see these occasionally up North. Saw a couple today. I don’t trust Nissan reliability and quality. The roominess is appealing, and greenhouse. But the poor crash test results are a serious NO.

This fourth generation really isn't comparable to the third generation. The third generation they really tried to offer upscale versions with really neat panoramic sunroof stuff and nice interiors, and they didn't come with the CVT
@raszze

And the third was actually safe. The fourth one pretty sure is one of the deadliest modern cars out there.

@@raszzethe fourth gen passed the same test the third gen did, which was the moderate overlap test, along with the side test. It actually did better with the restraints systems than the third gen. It’s just that it failed the small overlap, which is different than the moderate overlap test (which they didn’t test on the third gen). It failed the small overlap test, cause at the time, it was a brand new test. But the third gen was a BIG improvement over the first two generations. I personally liked the third gen the most, since it was very luxurious and unique for its time. The fourth gen was a little awkward looking, with the squared rear, and round front bumper. I can say Nissan had a whole different approach with the minivan market and design throughout the 2000s and 2010s, after breaking away from Ford.

This is the 4th generation Quest. My guess is that people avoided this one primarily because of the poor build quality of the third generation compared to the 1st and 2nd generations. Once bitten, twice shy, they say. Secondly, the CVT issues were so many that people felt it wasn't worth getting it over the other minivans that had torque converter automatic transmissions.
