AT4 is more than just an appearance package. It adds upgraded Rancho suspension (If you consider Rancho an upgrade) and underbody protection (skid plates)

AT4 also gets some of the nicer technological features that the SLT and Denali get, meanwhile the elevation is mostly just the appearance

This is a review of a 3/4 ton diesel AT4. How is that supposed to be a valid comparison between a 1/2 ton AT4 and an F150 of comparable spec? AT4 is a package that is available across a considerable spectrum of GMC vehicles. It is definitely not an indicator of the tonnage rating of the vehicle.

" HP not that impressive for a turbo V8" I disagree, it is quite impressive when you consider that the engine only spins 2800 times per minute when it makes that HP... not sure how many other production turbo V8s are doing that, Ford's 6.7 diesel does it ... and maybe the bi-turbo AMG 4.0 and some other german turbo V8s... but at 2,800 i'd bet this produces more HP than most production turbo v8s. also, consider that It produces 910 lb -ft of torque at 1,600 RPM which means it produces 277 HP at 1,600 RPM! (910lb-ft * 1600RPM / 5252 = 277HP). A 5.7 chevy wasnt producing that @ 4600 rpms back in the late 90s.

Transmission is a 10R140 GM/Ford built. Allison looked it over and put their name on it. Basically what Toyota does. Puts their badge on what they consider good enough.

The HD's(2500/3500) do not have any factory lift with the AT4 package, only the 1500...

Why would you compare this 2500 AT4 with a F-150 1500 Platinum when there is literally a GMC Sierra 1500 AT4 model? That's a closer comparison, but honestly, the GMC 1500 Denali trim is better compared to the F-150 Platinum. The AT4 is an off-road package with an available 6.2L V8 with 400+ hp/tq so it's kinda sorta almost a comparison to a Raptor....almost.

So besides payload and Towing between the 2500 and 3500 is the engine tweaked in any way between these two models? I need a 2500 model for payload, but not so much as a 3500 model, so don't know if the engine is getting in ng better mpg on a 2500 than a 3500. Or since the price is pretty much the same just get a 3500...

Well not all GM Diesels were Duramax. There was the infamous 5.7 Oldsmobile and then later the 6.2 Detroit Diesel that was more reliable but very low on power. Also the 6.5 Detroit Diesel. Duramax didn’t come in until 2001.

I love my AlTerrain but next truck is Dodge Limited because back seat reclines. Can not get it at GMC. As a senior We need comfort with our old age. You can not sit in my AT’s back seat for more than 1 hr. I will miss Dura-max but Dodge is now #1 three yrs in a row. 🇺🇸🤗🤪

Do Your Homework there is no Allison transmission in that truck, they just bought the rights from Allison but the transmission is built by gm and ford......

73k to 77k depending on options. but good luck getting one at that price. they are sold before they even hit the dealership in most cases. Those that do make it all the way to the dealership...get 10k "market adjustments".

I have a 2020 Gmc HD Denali and I daily drive mine, park in a parking garage and I work in an office. Work hard, play hard. I’ve owned a 2018 f150 Lariat. Nice truck but too much plastic.
