Another great video, after your play through so far this will be my next module, I thought I had it but was disappointed 😀. A pretty good result considering it was a battle you didn’t want to fight but I guess there have been many historical occasions where commanders have been forced to take part in battles they were not prepared for, well fought anyway.

Quick comment, in 14min. to not forget later after watching whole. :-) I believe in Close Combat 2: A bridge too far or CC5 was this feature that some destroyed, burned vehicles wrecks were left on the battlefield. Not sure but some bigger shell holes or damage on buildings was consistent too, naturally to some degree. You can correct me if I'm wrong, it was so many years ago but I think there was something like that in that beautiful series.

I know CC3 had that feature. Also if I recall correctly, Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin had an "operations" feature where you fought multiple battles on the same map, and lost tanks would be left as wrecks on the battlefield.

I'd love to see consistent battlefield damage in steel division, my battles usually leave areas devastated, or if its a tank push then the region would be littered with hulls afterwards

Steel division is a arcade game zero realism. Gravitas is the most realistic RT game available even though it’s 6 years old.

The dual modes of operational map and tactical battle is a workaround for performance. GT can be more realistic if it can have consistent battlefield. (So no more immediately reinforcement, no more teleporting between battles)

I’ve had the same problem with armor not engaging priority targets. I’ve noticed unchecking the engage infantry helps them keep focus on the AT guns other wise they seem to just machine gun infantry down instead. Also noticed your tanks had act with caution turned on which might of caused the strange behavior. Great battle, the red army is tough in this campaign I had a slog on my far right flank in my run.

I think my misfortune on the right flank will begin in the next battle :D

That Soviet counter offensive your about to face can be tough. I was caught with very few troops and low artillery I ended up call a tactical retreat and coming back with more support that town is tough to take and hold I noticed. Can’t wait for the next battle

The manual says that tanks with "act with caution" activated will prioritize the most dangerous targets. I guess that means that a 76mm anti tank gun would be No1. I actually have my tanks on "act with caution" mode almost always. Although, i have no clue how it's affecting their fighting. I do it just based on the manual explanation.

@@ggtt2547 you may be right about the act with caution they seem to do some strange things sometimes when it comes to prioritizing the bigger threat. I’ve had really good success with unchecking the engage infantry when my armor comes into contact with AT. I’ll have to run some more tests cycling the act with caution on an off. Game has so many little hidden features and details in it

All your units are in hiding mode. It’s affecting your firepower a lot. If FO can’t see the target but has visibility of area not too far - you can direct fire onto visible area and then adjust it to the target. As long as he can see the explosions the rounds will be adjusted by the observer.

Yeah the hiding mode is a trade between firepower and concealment. I admit that I need to keep in mind to pay more attention to it.

Amazing episode, pure chaos, really cinematic and interesting battle. Saw it all in one sitting!! Also, amazing looking maps and terrain variety in this playthrough. I will surely be buying this DLC. So... I am sorry to bring up the current shameful crimes against Ukraine and Ukrainians, but... Are the developers communicating online at all? I am wondering if they are still relatively ok. Although, i am thinking that they are probably younger than 60 years old and there is a mobilization in Ukraine atm. Hope my questions are not too depressing for a youtube channel
@Tonci872 жыл бұрын
Andrey is still communicating online, but discussions about the situation are not allowed in their steam forum, so we don´t really know anything.
@ggtt25472 жыл бұрын
@@Tonci87 Discussions not allowed feels a little relatable. I live in Greece and as you know the Balkans are just a poor backwater, and especially Serbia and Greece are very much anti NATO and as a result pro Russian. I guess double digit IQ doesn't allow the luxury of being both anti NATO and anti Russia. Thus, i am not even allowing discussions on the situation in my everyday life! Thanks for the reply, i will check the steam forums!

i don't think the enemy expected you to stand your ground. Based on their intel, they were preparing for a big push.

I imagine that my Infantry would have suffered very heavy casualties if I had attempted to push them across the river into the open. There was no crossing for my tanks, so they would have to stay behind

Thats my biggest beef with this game, things not unfolding in a way that makes sense on the overworld map. Like in my previous game where i attacked the same point with two divisions and it made two seperate battles, hehe. Even with max battlesize
@Tonci872 жыл бұрын
Yeah, sometimes it is a bit unpredictable, but I guess the same is true for a real battlefield, so all is good :D

What's the difference between "assault" and "attack" commands?
