As an electronic engineer i have to say that this is a great video of how to do it and fix the problem. I saw one other video posted by some idiot who tells you that to fix this same problem is to add more solder to existing power transistors. LOl like that will fix the problem, imagine him working on electronics. My neighbors tv broke down and poor lady was going to throw it away but I said "no way lets see what the 8 blinks are telling me" and the rest is history. Must replace the PCB screws with new one that you get in a kit.

Thanks for the parts and the video. I accidentally pulled pad 5 off the board for component ic152. Is that pad just an anchor or do I need to expose some copper around it to solder to?

Hello, I bought this repair kit removed the old parts not thinking I removed the new ones from the Q051 bag and D041 bag at the same time now I am unsure where they go. 1 has RF2001 the other has DG302. Could you inform me what spot on the board they go? Thank you

Hello, great video thank you!...So I have a Panasonic TC-P55VT30 which was showing 7 blinking lights, when I disconnected SC board it went to 8 blinks, then i plugged the SC board back in and disconnected SS board and it went back to 7 blinks. Thanks for the video. I have a Panasonic th-p50st30a Plasma that just died. I started receving the 7 blinks error. Upon investigation to confirm the SC board was the issue. I unplugged the SC board and powered on and then got an 8 blink error code which indicates the SS board is the issue. Have you experienced anything like this and do you have any advice on what steps to take to repair? Thank you.

I bought the repair kit from you but I don't have a heat gun like I see in this video. How can I solder the middle of the IC chip with a standard soldering iron? Also, one of the ever so small printed circuit board legs broke off while removal of the same chip. I will try to solder it back on along with the chip. The tools you're using make this repair look so much easier. I still have hope to get the job done. I await your reply on soldering the middle of the chip. Thanks rb67mustang.

I purchased the SS Board Component Repair Kit from SJ but I messed up one of the pads on the IC (pin 4). I believe this is a ground but would like to verify this by checking the schematic/pinout for this IC (BD8694 1521). Can you provide a datasheet for this chip or a mfr/part number?

There seem to be missing the information what causes this problem. It's described in the technical bulletin TB-13-02 from Panasonic. When the board is just reassembled without cleaning the areas affected by the arcing it will be damaged again as I learned the hard way.

+TomTechTod I repaired the board and it died less than a second after power on. Did you just sand the traces that showed signs of arcing? Could you explain further on what caused the problem and how you fixed it? Is it from the board grounding out at the screw hole or is it supposed to ground there and it has a poor connection?

i5usko Only saw your post now. Yes the chassis is part of the ground even though there is a ground trace on the board, but my guess is it's impedance is to high so some current goes through the chassis. Just sanding may not be enough, it started sparking after only a few weeks. Then after using dented washers the problem was solved.

I have a TC-P50U50 and I just installed all the parts from ShopJimmy. Installed the resistor, IC, voltage regulators and new screws. Finished the repair, started the TV and about 15 seconds afterwards it smelled of burning and the tv shut itself off. Help?

My Insignia NS-LTDVD26_09 WILL NOT TURN ON USING THE POWER BUTTON. AFTER SEVERAL TRYS WITH A RADIO SHACK 15_302 REMOTE RANDOM CODE INPUTS SOMETIME TURNS IT ON..IT WILL ALLOW ME TO VIEW DVD'S WITHOUT BASIC OPTION EXCEPT VOLUME WORK FINE. Hello, I have a Panasonic TC-P60ST50. The indicator light blinks three times. I have researched this and found..Three Blinks: Three blinks of the power LED indicates an over-current or over-voltage condition in one of the DC supplies of the AP board. The AP board is repairable. Therefore the use of an ohmmeter and peak-hold-voltmeter is required to determine the cause of the shutdown. An over-voltage condition is definitely a defect of the AP board. An over-current condition may be due to a short circuit located in the AP board, A board, or the LCD panel. Do you have a video that details this repair?

Have a Panasonic TC-54PS14 that will not power on but is giving an 8 blink code. Not sure if this helps but disconnected power and ribbons from SS and it gives me another blink code of 6 blinks. Does that mean I have other bad components as well?

Wow I think I just found the problem.. i was looking through the slits in the back of the tv (vent slits maybe) and the board with all the bright lighted circle.. I have notice that were my problem is on the screen is where there is a small wire blocking the hole, but now that I think about it its on the back of the tv so its probably not that right?

I have FILIPS 42PF9966. hard turns in the morning when it is cool. When you turn it on after 10 to 20 attempts red light flashes me one and 8 times in succession. If you turn it off while hot and turn it on again, then fell without problems immediately. I do not know what the problem is, so please help me. Thank you.

Hi, I'm trying to find out why a Sharp AQUOS LCD TV turns off unexpectedly after one minute on. I have to disconnect it for two to three minutes, reconnect it to the power outlet and then you can turn it on. It only stay on for one or two minutes and the it turns off by itself. The model is a LC-42SB48UT. And no, there's no Firmware upgrade for it.

Make sure to test every RF1501 components with around 41 ohm on the 200k caliber on the SS board and SC board because it might the whole plasma screen that grills thoses chips

Panasonic model TH42PX6U SN:LA62370579. Original starting problem was very Thin lines red,blue,and green line in the middle of the screen. The Video and Sound were Ok. After watching some of your videos, I cleaned the ribbon cables on the bottom buffer boards and reseated them all into their sockets. Still same result. I then Purchase the left buffer bd. TMP A3812. After installing this board. Now I'm having vertical line clear across the screen with video, only on the first 10 inches of the left screen; Vertical lines through the rest of the screen, sound is Ok. Re-install the original bd and still got this new problem. As of now I have also replaced the right side buffer bd TMP A3813 an the drive bd TMP a 3810. No result the New problem is still there. +Rick Clark Very Poor practice to 'just replace the board, hints of you unable to proper fault-find to component level.! --'board changers' are NOT technicians IMHO. Fit a used board with old parts, and who knows how many thousand hours on it, you could well be back to square one in a short while, and there's one less board for a set that really does need it, instead of just a simple fix on this one. This attitude has lead to the very short supply and stupid prices of boards such as TNPA5105, TNPA5081 etc... --Some of these in Dead condition change hands for $50 upwards..... Another reason NOT just to replace--There are SO many revisions of these things, its doubtful you'll get the exact one unless you order from Panasonic.--With their prices--Who does that!

+ShopJimmy.com sj-TXNSS1SDUU Repair Kit, I have a t55ut50. This was the issue and if you read just a few posts down you will see that this is caused by a poor ground. If this problem is not fixed then the board will just fail again. This was not mentioned in your vid at all so, I assumed it was caused by a short circuit on one of the components(namely that little resistor). The repair worked until the underlining issue caused failure again. Only reason I order from you was because of the video showing what components were damaged. The fact is the video doesn't tell you what caused the failure and now I'm out $20 because of it. If I had known this beforehand I would have a tv again.
