Little story for the Wagyu, i ordered 2kg of Rib-Eye and got 2kg ( so 4kg total ) for free as they made an error and send me way too much and in Germany they need to throw it when i send it back, so they let me keep it.

A few secrets on the BJ's steak, 1. the reason it's cheaper is because it's beef from Canada, hence why there is no USDA Choice sticker on the package. 2. BJ's packages all their fresh cut meat based on prices, meaning that they have a range on what is acceptable to put into a package so you might find 3 smaller steaks or 2 larger steaks in a package. 3. Their 100% money back promise is no joke, they literally take back anything no matter how much was left or whatever the customer did to the piece of meat.

It's taco bell or KFC. My Walmart has prime steaks. I know not every Walmart does, but mine does. Can't tell you why mine does though. I also have an HEB with prime steaks as well as a Costco, Whole Foods, and Fiesta Foods. There are also a few meat markets too. Out of all of them, Costco has the best steaks I have access to. Also, Costco is only slightly more expensive than Walmart. My only issue with Costco is the fact that it is a massive pain in the butt going there. The place is always packed. I end up spending 10+ minutes circling the parking lot with dozens of other cars looking for a spot. Then I have to walk a mile to back of the store after to get the steak to wait forever in a line to walk another mile back to my car. Sometimes I feel it is worth it, but usually not. I end up usually grabbing HEB which is about on the level as whole foods, just cheaper.

My biggest issue with Costco steaks is that they blade tenderize them all. That's why the package always recommends cooking to 165F. Now, that being said, I've never had an issue with their meats, but if someone is very sensitive or immune compromised, they might want to go with another store that doesn't blade tenderize just to be extra safe.

@randomergy6837 ай бұрын
Walmart and a lot of other stores like them cut their steaks thin because they don't keep track of sales by weight or overall profit, they keep track of it by units sold. So the thinner you cut your steaks, the more packages or units of meat you can make with one ribeye roast. The More units sold, the larger the managers bonuses and department budgets. That's why it's so common to see sad thin sliced steaks at big name grocery stores. It's also the reason why deli meats and similar items are rarely ever sold in quantities of over a half a pound.

I'm sitting here trying to learn how to identify the best steak, wondering if we have Prime and Choice here in Sweden. Then I realize I'm eating macaroni with ketchup right now, meat is not an option either way.
@RogeeRoger3 жыл бұрын
Prime and Choice are terms that are used by the USDA, the United States Department of Agriculture, I’m not sure what Sweden has but they most likely have their own different method of categorizing steaks since all the ones used by Guga from grocery stores are all going to be from the US, hence USDA
@Kampos943 жыл бұрын
We dont have any grading system in sweden for meat. There are stores that make their own gradings however. Like "Ica" (Swedish grocery store) has "Ica Select"which is steaks with better marbeling. Altho most of the time even those are not in the "Prime" range. Also all steaks in swedish grocery stores are thin. The ones we call thick here is what guga said was thin in this video. If you want to get ahold of good meats go to a local butcher or to a "Saluhall" and have someone cut the steak in front of you after you selected out what you want. Another good place to find good marbeled meat is "LIDL" belive it or not. They usually have very nice beef there.

Usually I get 6 1.5 inch thick steaks out of it for $45-50, and it's also well trimmed. All three stores get their meat from Swift or national and one other when I can't remember that set the difference from store to store is actually how they cut the meat after it gets out of the package Whole Foods avoid the bandsaw except to cut through the bone everything else is hand-cut hand-trimmed just like Publix Walmart uses a band saw to cut their steaks you'd be surprised but just by taking care with the way that you process the meat once you take it out of the package makes that big of a difference also how they store the food contribute greatly
