SHOPPING AT OAKLAND NURSERY & POTTING UP BOXWOODS

Welcome to my Ohio Zone 6b garden! My name is Nicholaus and I am happy to have you join me in my garden. Today I take trip to the most magical Nursery in the Columbus, OH area and that is Oakland Nursery. After that I end up potting some Green Mountain Boxwoods in containers for in front of the greenhouse.

The new pots with the boxwoods look awesome. You said you wanted blank containers, you an actually paint in the groves with some black paint, like a wash, I think that would look really good especially with the greenhouse being brown, and the door being black. Thank you for sharing.

So pretty! We get joy from garden centers, plants and nature! I"m going to my favorite garden center today to pick up a concrete cat for my teenage daughter in memory of our 17 year-old family pet we lost last month. We'll set it out on the patio where Skipper would nap or in a flower bed among the plants. Our cat was as old as our daughter and was a hard loss for her.

I agree that the black would enhance the black door and arch nicely but the terra cotta pots also play well with the tiled walkway and greenhouse frame. I personally think that small solar lights lining the walkway would be a nice touch.

As soon as you said your not getting any plants it was like, "yep, let's see what plants he gets." Good thing you left the umbrella pine behind, that little thing will grow up to be massive so you need to plan long term for those things.

Oh wow. I love that nursery. Beautiful Christmas items. The boxwoods look good in the containers that they are in. Our Loews has been disappointing as far as the rolled pots are concerned too.

Hi, Nick, just found your youtube channel. Love flowers. I am 60 miles east of Columbus. I was at the Backwoods Fest thus year. Missed it for about 4 years but have gone for probably 15 years or more. It certainly was hot this year! There is no other " Food Court" like that one! Look forward to more videos.

What do you have over the top of your raised beds? I have strawberries in one of mine and I sprinkled straw over top of them. I have fencing around and netting over top to keep the deer out. I enjoy watching your videos, fun!

The square black raised beds have chicken wire over them to keep squirrels from eating the spring bulbs I put in them.

Nick you said you wanted to use black pots in that area you removed two black pots from that area why didn’t you plant the boxwoods in those containers and set whatever were growing in them in the garden and you could use your new terracotta pots somewhere else

The black pots are plastic and I am trying to get rid of whatever plastic pots I have left.
