For the grocery/department store experience you get from Target or Walmart, I would suggest the Continente across the river at the Forum shopping mall. or an InterMarche, cant remember if there is one in Coimbra, their PorSi (housebrand) is also really good, I was able to find Peanut butter and cream cheese.

As a PT, Yes you should put the open milk carton in the fridge. i also store the eggs in the fridge but its not necessary.

Ah this is great to know!! I wasn’t sure if it was the American in me that kept wanting to put the open milk in the fridge or if it was legit. 😂

for the coffee you could ask for an "abatanado" it's an expresso but with more water

Great to know!! Honestly, I love iced coffee, which definitely doesn’t seem to be a thing here. But I have gotten to where I like a galaou-not sure if I’m spelling that right. But at home-I bought an espresso machine and I make my own iced vanilla lattes!!

If you are looking for sour cream, which isn't very commonly used by portuguese people, you can check the "World Foods" isle in Auchan, they always have it in there. Auchan is great for those little niche products. As for the shredded cheddar, again as it's not very common to use, only for burgers, you can either get it in slices or as a block that you shred it yourself. Auchan sells Kerrygold which is a very common brand you can find in the UK. Dr Pepper is available at El Corte Ingles.
