Sooooo we started building an arbor but Jun hurt his back so that went on pause and we switched to working on a less physically demanding flower bed for next to our front door. I also went to the Arita ceramics festival with some friends and found some really neat things for Jun's birthday!

Do what you can to slowly but surely exit out of whatever you’re in, if you can’t make a quick escape. I know time passing will make you feel at a loss, like things may be hopeless or too late, but it’s not. May you get that peaceful, stable life you desire ❤️

@@erieberrymarshall3906 Our outside cats don't eat the lavender in our garden, and we have LOTS of lavender. They always tend to go for something more grass like, and one cat also eats dry withered leafs. But every cat is different, so it might be better to supervise them at first around the plants that are toxic. If they want to eat them, get rid of those plants.

It's a long-term thing but investing in shade trees will eventually make your yard pleasant to be in through most of the summer. Also, I'm going to get a rabbit tail for a house plant, if I can find one. It's grass, I shouldn't be able to kill it.

You might already know this: blue and pink Hydrangea blooms change color based on the soil acidity, with acidic conditions promoting blue and alkaline promoting pink (the white ones should stay white though). It's possible to get some really beautiful color transitions on large plants with careful soil additions to make the soil have different pH values across the plant, but also I've never done it myself so I don't know how difficult it is to maintain.

Hydrangeas get their name because they're flowers that thrive on a lot of water and they absorb water through their petals instead of their roots. They'll still receive nutrients through their roots from the soil, but if you notice that the flowers looking sad, just give them lots of water and they'll be looking happy again. Definitely great plants during rainy seasons, but watch out for the scorching summer season as the flowers will start to look burnt. Keep them hydrated!

The ceramics are so pretty! And oh, your snake... I have a beautiful pure white cornsnake named Erica who I've had for a long time; her eyes are red and gold and she's nearing her 20th year-- she's an old lady snake and very gentle, she loves to be carried around on my shoulders. Excellent garden work; I was glad to see how you two handled your need for drainage (good planning!) The hydrangeas are lovely; my grandmother grew pale blue ones that would turn purple as they aged during the day of blooming, and when I was a child I firmly believed they were magical plants. I do wish the 'bunny tail' plants were available here-- those are adorable! Congratulations on the results of all your hard work; the garden looks great, and it's nice that your cats seem to approve.

My family has a tall rock like the one you're describing, only it's a fountain! It's super plain and naturalistic with a gentle spout, the amount of water at the top is just right for little birds like sparrows and hummingbirds to bathe in. It sits where we can see it from the living room windows - so sometimes, while working on a puzzle in the living room, we're treated to a little bird having a little splish-splash. It's impossibly cute! You can keep it topped off when the weather is hot, and in the rainy season it'll refill itself...

Lovely gifts for Jun and yourselves or family. I love the robe as well. Your inspired garden is so pretty even in early stages wait until it grows in. Here is a list of pet safe plants in case you are interested. snowdrop, african violet, sweet pea, crocus, forget me not, carnation, snapdragon, marigolds, astilbe, heather, freesia, lisianthus, limonium statice, scabiosa, veronica these are less toxic plants and any regular eating will cause stomach upset and or vomiting. Ferns are also a good pet safe plant as well and some succulents.
