Ok, I usually don't comment, but I heard "cloth diapers" and my ears perked up. We cloth diaper and I *love* it. Our girl is 17 months old and I can count on one hand the number of times we've had blowouts. Seriously. Cloth diapers are truly underrated for their containment potential alone. I know it sounds like a huge commitment, but they're really so much easier than you might think. Check out Jay's Nest here on KZbin. She has so much information available. Thirsties is my favorite brand and they also have a great, informative KZbin channel. We wash every other day, but it's really not a huge deal. Honestly, you could even do it half disposables and half cloth to make an environmental impact. Good luck if you choose to try it!

I have type 1 diabetes so I'm not sure how gestational diabetes works but,if this is a thing you can do with gestational diabetes I highly recommend it ( if it turns out that you have it) so, you can get automated blood glucose readers such as the dexcom or free style libre. They go on your arm and it's one needle roughly every forghtnight. There absutely no blood and you can just wave a smartwatch, phone or reader over the top of it whenever you want to. It will give you more information and so is a lot safer and gives me such peace of mind. Hopefully this is helpful😊

Sorry I keep connecting but I had to say, back in the day instead of bassinets, many people used those Moses baskets, they’d put them in the bed and then proceed to put them in the back seat of the car and drive that way. BUT even better than that basket, before that and during, when you couldn’t afford a basket, you’d (they’d) pull out a dresser or night stand drawer, make it soft and cozy, and put the baby (me, der) in it and GO NIGHT NIGHT. I always wanted to try the drawer thing with my kids but I’m a.... collector? Not a hoarder!! I hate throwing stuff away so my drawers are always packed to the brim. Cool idea though, and great topic to discuss lol. I love it.

Random note (idk if it'll help or make it worse but..) when you get your blood drawn they don't actually "suck" or pull it out, they use the natural pressure of your blood pumping to pump it out into the vials. So it's your own body pushing the blood out, like if you were bleeding from a normal cut basically. Edit: I have bad anxiety too and have trouble with needles and junk, but I have a fool proof method to dealing with them! Go into it like it's no big deal, distract yourself with constant conversation about other topics with the nurse or whoever, and take deep long breaths in your nose and out your mouth. Try to time a long exhale with their poke, it will help your blood pressure not drop and prevent fainting. (I hope you read this, and try it!)

I'm 35. Just called my mom and she said that she had an audio baby monitor for me. I feel like I've also heard stories about how, because they worked on certain radio frequencies or something, people could manipulate the baby monitors to hear their neighbors conversations if they were talking on cordless phones. Also, funny story. The first night my parents brought me home, my grandmother and godmother were there, too. They told my mom to not even worry about the monitor, they would take care of me for the night, and told my parents to go to sleep. I was a bad sleeper. Still am. I screamed all night. But at one point my mom noticed that I wasn't getting soothed at all and was consistently wailing. She walked in, and both my godmother and my grandmother were asleep, with me crying (securely) in my grandmother's arms. Apparently, my godmother was trying to sing me to sleep while my grandmother rocked me, and she sang my grandmother to sleep, while simultaneously falling asleep on the bed. Neither of them have ever lived it down.

I was born in 1968. And as a small baby I was just held when I was in the car. JUST HELD. And as a toddler I had a car seat. It was basically a aluminum cube. Kind of like the old lawn chairs. And it had a canvas seat and a nylon belt. And at the top of the cube two J shaped brackets went over the back of the passenger side seat. And I would basically dangle about six inches above the car seat. And if both my parents were in the car. They would flip it so I dangled in back of the passenger seat. My mom told me about her accidentally jumping a curb on a icy winter morning. And my car seat bouncing off and me smacking into the dashboard and landing face down with my face inches from the rusted out floor. Safety wasn't number one priority. And she admitted that wasn't the first or last time that happened. Any bounce or bump and the carseat would fly off. But they put 9 kids in that thing. And we all survived it.

Hi there! 26 year old here, just had my son this year in 2021 and I was passed down a hand made wooden bassinet rocker that my grandpa made for my brother and I when we were babies and we slept in it. I used it for my son to sleep in our room and it was simple, easy, nothing crazy and I put a new dockatot in it as a cushion, and even with a c-section it was fine for me personally getting up to grab him! Wanted to use it as sentimental purposes instead of buying snoo, etc for hundreds!

It would be really interesting for Jessica to tell us the difference in baby products from when she started having kids to now. I’m sure the baby products changed so much with every baby.

I really miss the young ages. My son is 15 and it's def been fun...so far lol...but man I miss those young ages. Flynn is literally one of the cutest little boys ever. He's such a smart funny little guy and we can tell that just in these little videos. I genuinely enjoy your family so much Colleen!! You should do a pod cast on funny things he has done or said, random or weird things the kiddos believe along with hilarious things your nieces and nephews have done or said growing up. Us parents should send some of ours in and you can read them on the podcast. I have some my little man did that would bring tears to your eyes from laughter lol. I think it would be so interesting to hear and share our funny parenting kid moments and share how we navigated through it lol

Y'all should i need an episode where you just sit down with Flynn, i understand this is not easy to film as he is a toddler and it is not usual for a toddler to just sit down. But at more than 5 minutes. Or talk about families, how you told your family who you were dating vice versa.

I know this is not the norm, but I had mine taken out in my early 20's. I woke straight after surgery, the nurse looked at me in shock when I woke. Super quick recovery. I was the one directing my mum on how to get home with gauze in my mouth. I then had to go into uni the next day and present an assessment to a class. I didn't feel any pain but it was swollen. So glad it went smoothly, hope yours does, too.

I am 38 & my brother who is 41, we both had just an audio monitor. You couldn't see your baby only hear your baby. As for a bassinet we had a wooden cradle that our grandpa made that was right next to my parents bed. My mom said bassinets were available but we're usually for people with money, our family was really poor. Both of us were in cloth diapers, my mom would make them out of my dad's old t-shirts that he didn't want or need anymore.

I have a 28 yo son and audio monitors were available at that time and an 18 yo daughter and video was available then. There were bassinets back in th day, but, if parents couldn't afford them a dresser drawer worked just fine. Be glad you had car seats as a child because when I was born we were able to stand up and walk across the back seats, seat belts were just for decoration and car seats weren't even made. Now that's old!

If you need to clean them off quick, a hand held spray head for your shower us good. Also you can get cloth diaper services that pick up, clean and deliver washed diapers.

I was awake for my wisdom teeth removal, and I felt a lot of it bc the numbing shots don't work on me very well. Despite that, I don't think anything was particularly awful in regards to having them removed or the recovery.

I LOVED Flynn singing and showing off his crickets.
