What a fitting game to be Roy’s last artwork. I’ve read that Roy never played a pinball, and in fact never even looked at his art on the machines. He just did the drawings, handed them in, and that was that. I do remember playing this game, but then I played all of them in the 60s. …It was a time.

Nice to these old classic pins been really worked on made like new . I clean and polish the field it's good to look after it also it's plays fast to and I always check the ball as it's changed regular I'm lucky my machine was left in a damp bace ment legs was so rusty but the main game was bought back to life It's brilliant to see you make the jobs look so easy but very rewarding Brilliant job well done 👍

Ronnie, I think you are right on. If you work to hard to clean up these master pieces, not only do you erase history but you also start to change the original game play that was meant to be. Good stuff.

Where I once worked, they bought a big group of 80s-90s pinball games repatriated from Europe. I guess they couldn't get parts there. A broken rubber ring? Block the lane out with a 3" wood screw! The guy rebuilding them had a five gallon bucket with all the burned out light bulbs. Hundreds. Some smelled like they were in men's rooms at bus or train stations.

This kind of reminds me of a 1967 Williams pinball "Magic City" I played in my youth at the bowling alley. Me and my friend Peter used to share-play it, I was the left flipper and he played the right. Twice the pinball for the same coin ;) Did anyone else used to play at the same time with a friend? P.s. It had the 2" flippers :)

Presently "restoring" a Magic City that was pretty much a barn find. Believe me, it's rough. Bottom playfield art has mostly eroded away leaving me to improvise. I have no artistic skills so I'm not sure what to do. Plays good tho

@@LyonsArcade maybe you should have played wearing roller skates? Nope, I love these EMs and your fixing of them - the history of backglass story with pearly kings and London based references are hardly going to be a strongpoint (I live only an hour or so from Mayfair and it's not one of mine either) I commented on the flipper side post too soon - I noted that you replaced it (I pondered removing one from top of pf to disguise odd one!), Commented, then watched you describe doing so. *Doh*. Fabulous to seeing ones own sensibilities reflected. Enthusiastic preservation. Playable patina - I love your practical, ethical attitude to problem solving and explaining for us all. I think there was one point that you could have commented 'It's broke' which you missed (!), but other than that... Bravo!

Bet that plastic target will cost more than a quarter. 🤔 Was working on a truck with my uncle. He was an old school machinest. He needed a couple of washers under a bolt. They cost a nickel each. Got pissed an started going off on the poor guy behind the counter, that he could drill a hole in that nickel an it would make a better washer than the one he just bought. Just thought of that when I saw the quarter. 😂😂😂

Sure, you had to remind me I’m a senior citizen. Like I don’t already know. I like solid state machines, I own a Williams Gorgar (my only machine) when it’s sorted out even though it’s 40 years old it’s reliable. I was thinking the EMs are like steam locomotives. They’re living breathing entities that employed a bunch of people to keep them running. A diesel electric does the same job in a soulless and robotic way. I’ve learned from watching you, I think I might have a rudimentary understanding of schematics from watching you.

Hey Ron, how does a pinball hold up in a garage? Basically not temp regulated. Will heat warp the plastics, affect paint? I worked with a lot of the same mechanical components in my job, but it’s the playfield items I’m worried about. Thanks!!!

I'm still confused on how those SNAP Targets work in theory of operations. Can you please explain how those SNAP targets because there are two different sides that do some type of logic. You mention about certain switches and stepper motors will have "Carry Over" signals and numbers, but how can you tell when looking at the EM schematics that certain switches and stepper motors will have "Carry Over" signals and numbers?
@eDoc2020
@eDoc2020 Жыл бұрын
You mean how the bonus doesn't reset between games? That's actually the natural behavior of game items. The ones that reset hook into the end of ball / game over / reset circuits.
@waynegram8907
@waynegram8907 Жыл бұрын
@@eDoc2020 Some games Stepper motors, bonus units, Score Reels will have a "carry over" so when the ball#1 goes in the out hole and ball#2 is selected the score reels, stepper motors, bonus units use a "carry over" which the carry over stores the numbers and stores the bonus unit and other stepper unit positions and don't reset between balls or between games. I'm not sure when looking at EM schematics how you can tell if there are "Carry Overs" or not, any tips?
@eDoc2020
@eDoc2020 Жыл бұрын
@@waynegram8907 I don't really understand. Do you mean something where the value is reset and then restored later? That's not common in EM machines.
@waynegram8907
@waynegram8907 Жыл бұрын
@@eDoc2020 The Values don't reset that its why its called a Carry Over. Joe is mentioning Carry Overs in the last few videos about how this EM games has Carry Overs which seems that the Values are STORED and carried over to the next Ball or next game.
@eDoc2020
@eDoc2020 Жыл бұрын
@@waynegram8907 The values are stored by the mechanical state. No power is needed to keep the state but power is always needed to change or reset state. If the unit resets when you start a new game then then its reset coil _must_ be hooked into the reset circuitry of the game.

I'm catching up on your videos now, after a short break for other pursuits. I know when you post your video the machine has already left the shop, but if this was my pinball machine I'd put the two white posts further back in the same group. You can see the two barely noticeable in a close-up at 24:10 Also I would reproduce the missing ball guide on the right where the ball gets stuck on the previous video kzbin.info/www/bejne/j524Z4KtZcirjs0 Since I'm a sheet metal worker at my day job, making this will only take a few minutes.
