They do make good machines. I have a Crafter’s Station that’s anything but new and works the same today as it did originally.

Four years ago I had never heard of ShopSmith. Now I have two. A 520 built in 1998 and a 500 “greenie” built in 1956. As others have said, it’s good to see you all get more active on YT

Mr. Nick Cupps, I have owned and use a Shopsmith since I retired from the military. Especially enjoy it's sturdy build and it’s versatility! Something I think you might check with Mr. McCann on, is to advertise and demonstrate the use of the drill press mode for light wood and aluminum milling. Since the lateral forces are typically the same as when the shopsmith is used for shaping and routing, it can be used for light milling also. The previous owners have not highleted this selling point.

I have an inexpensive X-Y table and have milled some plastic stock with my Shopsmith, making replacements for various broken doodads.

Thanks for putting out this great video. I have owned Shopsmith machines for 35 plus years and love them. I am planning on upgrading my Mark 520 to the power pro eventually. ❤😊

I'd love to see them produce parts for the 10ER. A larger table, an improved speed control would be great.

For the three people who still use theirs. There is no money there. Spend $250 on market place and get a mk5

@@jerbear7952 Lot's of people still use 10ER (including the Shopsmith factory making Mark 7) but you are correct that there is insufficient money in 10ER upgrades.

What is the "golden" ShopSmith I see sitting at the front left side (in the video) of your booth?

Bring back the planer. Also give us a larger jointer. Shopsmith could easily handle a 6 or 8” jointer

The biggest impediment to starting woodworking is price-great machine but how much?

Buy a used one and get to making. Shopsmith can supply any repair or upgrade parts you might need or want. The available specialized accessories fit even the oldest machines. I bought my late father-in-law's Shopsmith for $100, took it apart (not hard!) and hauled it home in my Prius.

And what will all that cost? He says the biggest barrier to entry is space, I know it's cost. That's why you buy individual tools over time.

5k brand new, you can get a used one from 250 to 1000 bucks. Which is all still cheaper than buying individual machines at a equal or similar horse power.

You're correct, cost is also a barrier to entry for many people. Over time, buying all the individual tools could end up being anywhere from $5,000 to $16,000, depending on the quality and capabilities. Two more thoughts on the topic of price. Firstly, we work with Affirm to provide people the option of monthly payments at 0% APR. Additionally, if that still isn't doable, we encourage people to look for a used Shopsmith. Our machines are built to last and you can purchase an old MARK V at a very good price. We still supply parts for the older machines and all of our new attachments and upgrades can be used on most of the old models. Thanks for the comment and brining this topic up! :)

@@shopsmith ring back the surface planer. The new SS could also handle a larger jointer. 6 or 8” if it is wired for 220.
