Kobalt already has powerful tools like these ones. What they need are more different or unique types like water pumps, vacuums, mini hand held chain saws..... something like that. Milwaukee released their Nibbler tool which was something i've never seen before. Kobalt should do the same.

@@sebastiantran1266 That's really the only reason DeWalt and Milwaukee are technically better buys. They each have over 300 tools for their lines. I have about 20 Kobalt 24v battery tools, and on my job it seems that my Kobalts outperform my coworkers who own Milwaukee or DeWalt. The batteries also outlast theirs. Being that my trade requires tools that the Kobalt line doesn't have, I had to break down recently and buy some Milwaukee tools recently, and it kinda bummed me out because Kobalt could easily make a superior tool, in my opinion anyway. Their tools are top notch and I wouldn't trade them for Milwaukee or DeWalt or Makita or whatever.
@jasonhull21632 жыл бұрын
I have to admit I use Makita because they have lasted longer than other commercial brands. However I tried a few of these tools out a while back. My friend at work was pulling lug nuts on a 1 ton service truck. The tool was fantastic and I tried the previous gen model. People mistake the quality of Kobalt. Honestly they are geared to be more high end performance than you think. The newer tools don't feel like super cheap plastic no more. I think I will buy one because I want to really test it out. I doubt it will pull lug nuts off a semi truck but it could be good for under carriage work, pulling clutches etc. I've had the Makita 5 years and it still works, so buying this is justified.

Kobalt is produced by Chervon (Skil, Flex, Ego). The #1 problem that I see for all of these, except for maybe Flex, is that they haven't really expanded any of these lines in the last year or so. They've come out with new tools for each, but just new tools in the same categories that are already occupied. Meanwhile, Milwaukee, Ryobi, Craftsman, etc are all expanding into new categories. Coming out with another new impact or drill or circular saw is great IF you don't already own a tool in that category. It does very little to entice your existing customer base to come out with a 4th different drill driver if they already bought an older model a year or so ago. I bought into Ego and Skil (20v) about 3 years ago. I like the tools I have a lot. I would love to have a yard sprayer or a trim router or a dethatcher. Those tools don't exist under those 2 platforms. But if I ever need another circular saw or push mower, I've got plenty of choices. But, if I switch over to Ryobi's 18v lineup, I can find almost every category of tool I want. The same can pretty much be said for Craftsman and Milwaukee. I'll stick with my Ego tools. What I have are great. But I'm not that far into the Skil lineup and I've already bought a Ryobi sprayer. I may well hand over my Skil drill, impact, and circular saw to my son and go with Ryobi going forward. I don't want to have more than 2 battery platforms and there's too much missing under Skil.
@rustytools46432 жыл бұрын
Kobalt has a trim router and lawn sprayer already...
@craigphillips31542 жыл бұрын
@@rustytools4643 Yes. I'm aware of that. Skil and Ego (the battery lines I already have) do not. I guess I should have been more clear. I looked at the Kobalt line. I almost went that direction. But the Ryobi lineup is still much more inclusive than Kobalt. And as a DIY homeowner, i can live with any feature/performance loss going with Ryobi over something like Milwaukee or DeWalt.

I’ve been buying Kobalt for years. Love the tools hate the warranty. They say 5 years but when you go to get a tool replaced it’s almost impossible. I had a multi toll that quit working after only a year. Spent a week getting the run around. Lucky my wife who bought me the tool recommended she bought the extended warranty. Still had to go to three different stores but was then told on order to replace it I needed the stuff that came with the tool. I responded all accessories are there. They responded what about the blades that came with the tool? What??? You want me to have the blades that came in the box from a year ago? I finally suggested giving me the tool and they keep the new blades that were in the box. And they finally agreed to that. I still like their tools and buy some when they have a ridiculous sale price but buy it knowing I’ll probably just have to trow it away.
@gf2e2 жыл бұрын
All the parts? That’s ridiculous. You’re not asking for a refund. They decided to replace it instead of repairing it, that shouldn’t add extra rules for you. I actually had the opposite experience a couple months back. I’d bought a charger and two battery kit. One of the batteries was DOA. I brought the battery in to ask for a replacement. They said they could only do a refund. They took my battery and gave me a refund of the entire kit.
@Shoptoolreviews2 жыл бұрын
To be absolutely frank, much of the warranty nightmares many times start with the local store. If a store manager handles it correctly, this can be a seamless process. At the same time, we're well aware of the nightmare stories out there, and that's sad. The best we know, Kobalt stands behind their tool warranty, but we definitely want to know when they don't. Thanks for watching and sharing.

5:00 If they offered a 7 1/4 inch version of this saw, with the blade on the same side as this one, I'd buy it in less than a heartbeat. I have the KXCS 124B-03 24-Volt XTR saw, and like it, but the blade is on the right side of the motor, and I simply do not like that, it makes it very difficult for right handed people like myself, to see the blade, and have better control over where it goes. I remember a couple years ago, Kobalt claimed that they were going to really ramp up their development and release of more and more different tools, in an effort to go toe to toe with Ryobi. That never happened, and I'm pretty disappointed about it.

Kobalt offers a Guarantee, NOT a Warranty. What's the difference? A warranty is for repairs. A Guarantee is for replacement. The box says 3 year battery and 5 year tool Guarantee. When I went to Lowe's to return a kit that had a problem, they initially said I would have to contact Kobalt for the warranty repair. I told them, "the box says 5 year guarantee, NOT Warranty. A Guarantee is for replacement and Warranty is for repair. I want you to honor the Guarantee". They told me to grab a new kit from the shelf. Whenever you buy a kit, if one tool goes bad, you have to return the whole kit, and they replace it with a whole new kit. Mostly, I wanted to comment about the Guarantee, because EVERY KZbin reviewer says they have a 5 year Warranty, while pointing at the word "Gurantee" on the box.

Why do some tool companies produce and offer both drill/drivers and hammer drill/drivers? Normally the drill/driver will cost a bit less, it weigh a bit less, and be a bit shorter from tip to tail. The hammer drill/driver equivalent will typically cost a bit more, weight a bit more, and be a bit longer from tip to tail. Assuming there was no cost difference between a equivalent drill/driver and hammer drill/driver, are folks that have no need for a hammer drill, or have a dedicated hammer drill purchasing the drill/driver variant just to save a bit of weight and length? Or am I overlooking some other benefits to getting a drill/driver over a hammer drill/driver?
@Shoptoolreviews2 жыл бұрын
The Hammer Drill is typically $10-$50 more than the regular, so some people probably want that savings. I think most of the tool manufacturers have figured out how to incorporate the hammer feature without having to lengthen or broaden the body. Either that, or they just want to have one mould to build both. Thanks for watching.

Thumbs down because none of the tools were used. Lol kidding. But for real Kobalt's 24 volt platform was pretty impressive from the beginning. The innovation with the adjustment on the circ saw and the use of brushless batteries may just put these guys up there in performance closer to pro level. Right now on my personal chart they sit just above Ridgid. Kobalt needs more tools in their arsenal if they want to compete with the big boys though. A vacuum, 7 1/4 inch saws, lights, maybe go dual battery and make miter saws and table saws. Kobalt would be on par with the new kid on the block, Flex and be direct competitors if their 24 volt system can keep up with team grey.
