Shore Fishing in Fuerteventura - Canary Islands - Exploring new fishing spots | The Fish Locker

This was our first 24 hours in Fuertaventura in the Volcanic Canary Islands. My friend and I explore new areas of the island to find places to fish from the coast. We experiment with different methods to find the fish and land 10 different species in the first 24 hours.

Thanks for putting the time and effort into making and uploading your videos. They have been my 'go-to-library' for setups, venues, tackle etc. I've been fishing the canary islands for 8 years, mostly for stingrays and sharks from shore. Just a tip from my experience: you could scale up to 160-200lb mono on the pennel rig and use a short wire or multistrand-trace as a hook lenght.

John & Tom thank you. Hope I am not too boring, but stay in Playa Das America & had the best prawns of my life, went to Santa Cruz & had the best lobster. Have a friend living there. Would it not be great for you many fans to do a diving there? Small story, when I was there I went to a small Jazz club, got up to sing with the intro male singer, my friend sat at the back, a lady came in & my friend told her the seat was taken, turned out she was the lead from Vegas. Whilst on stage, 2 men appeared, I said I leave, the singer said no, meet my friends, they were 2 of the original singers from the Platters. Hope you have a great time boys 👍 I’ve fished most of the islands whilst on family holidays. Caught the normal little fish, had a couple of bream - the best was the mullet in fueteventura , took me bloody days of watching the huge sholes swimming by, basically blowing raspberries at me. Patience is all it takes, finally landed a few with simple hooked bread on the top !! Fantastic 👍 I also saw one or two ‘what I would say’ big barracuda really close into the rocks.

Some lovely species of small fish John. I saw you went to the North end of the island. I don’t know when you are going out to Fuerteventura again but when I get to meet you in August, I will share with you my top marks on the island. When I went with Matt Holmes last November, we only had one trip that we didn’t catch a fish over 60lb. Our first night we fished, I told Matt that it will be like hooking into a small car as the big fish fight so hard and the first night I had a stingray over 200lbs. The water depth at high water isn’t more than 20ft deep and you see these monsters in the daytime swimming in front of you. My go to spot every year always produces big fish, day or night and it doesn’t matter what state the tide is doing. Some things I will share with you which may interest you and you can try the way I fish but your the expert John so you could probably adapt what I do with your own touch. Nice video John, a pleasure as always to watch

Fuertoventura, last year, fishing the pier at Corralejo. 11.00 am witnessed a drunk, local lad hook the biggest fish I’ve ever witnessed in the flesh. Huge head, gaping mouth. Grouper? Half an hour of trying to get it to the beach, down the side of the pier. Snapped him, but close enough to look it in the eyes. Fantastic. Enjoy the Canary’s - back there April 2nd.

Quality video John can't wait for the next one. Everything you did there was bang on top work. Beaten me on species there. I didn't even know there was Skate around the island. Same happend to me that happened to Tom I caught my biggest stinger there snapped the 200lb leader on the beach and it shot back the target one I had with no tail and I have no photos to show for it 😂 excuse for another trip I think.

The ornate wrasse reminds me alot of our own beautiful male cuckoo wrasse, also the stripped fish orange n white you got an night looked like a finding nemo although nemo was a clown fish 🐠 I think?

Fantastic footage! I've fished the Canaries a few times. Small hooks always gave me the most productive days, Pretty but usually small :) Have you fished in Australia?

Nice video, wishing I was on holidays, have never fished that island but have gone on charters from Puerto Calero on the island of Lanzarote to be honest never had anything to write home about, but never say never, will be back in June for another outing so fingers crossed 🐟
