Congrats on the 5K milestone - well deserved and good that your hand is better. Love fishing at Shoreham and have fished the Burrells twice. Very scenic and walkers tend to stick to the boardwalk. Wind is always annoying but best from behind. Thank you for another excellent and informative video - also the links to the rig-making vids.

Good afternoon, and straight away congratulations on you 5k, it's well deserved,, and sorry to hear about your hand , hopefully it's on the mend. The fish was great in conditions that were a bit rough.. Some nice plaice there..one of my favourite species... Your choice of charity was also first class, as my son suffers from this debilitating disease..so a big thumbs up and let's get you up to 10k now... I'm sure it wont be long... And big thank you and well done..

Great to see you back on the beach. You haven't missed much due to the incessant easterlies recently. It's been patchy down here at Shoreham and you did well to get a few. There's also been a few nice founders and some small smoothounds. Look forward to the next one.

Thanks Rob - yes, conditions during the first couple of weeks I missed were not favourable for my sort of fishing - I'm just glad I haven't missed too much of the start of the plaice season.

Really enjoyed the video, I love the way you think about what you're doing. If you need extra distance to compensate for your hand injury, I recommend the Bagnall bar - either buy them from Tom at Christchurch Angling Centre (the Christchurch in Dorset, not the one here in NZ!) or make your own as I do.
@rodsangleuk62832 жыл бұрын
Many thanks again Ian - I am thinking of making some Bagnall bars, especially for long snood fishing at range; but probably for rays rather than plaice. Although they are very effective for plaice, I tend to do better with short snoods, except over very shallow ground.
@iangraham30182 жыл бұрын
@@rodsangleuk6283 - They are cheap to buy from Christchurch angling Centre, only about UKP2 each I think. If making your own, use about 1.3mm diameter stainless steel wire. You can use 2mm silicon sleeving instead of a spring if you can't get the right size (SRT springs are too small), and for a bait clip, use an imp if using small baits, but if using larger baits for Rays, I recommend using the gemini splash down instead
@terrynicholson92732 жыл бұрын
You picked the right venue Mick, I tried Brighton Marina West Arm on same day. No Plaice, although conditions were nearly perfect, no early Bream (I tried) and no squid just dogfish and the same hail / snow shower you suffered.
@rodsangleuk62832 жыл бұрын
Hard luck Terry - can be hit and miss. I fancied fishing The Banjo; but changed my mind and headed for Shoreham that day.
@terrynicholson92732 жыл бұрын
@@rodsangleuk6283 I am too mean to pay the daft parking charges at the Banjo and the construction work for the new sea wall has probably reached there from the Marina now.

@@rodsangleuk6283 Funny enough i just went to my favorite old school tackle shop in Ipswich, Markhams and got loads of fresh worms. I am trying the river at orford tonight from low at midnight up to 3AM. Would have gone to the mouth of the river alde at shingle street but being the weekend it will be busy.

I've been experimenting with "bead bling" for years. I'm convinced that "electric blue" coupled with "pearl white" beats other colours! What I do is simply buy "pearl white" beads online.... then get hold of some of the wide range of 'girlie' nail varnish colours & paint the pearl beads to the colour of your choosing. It dries quick, so it's no hassle 😉 .... and it's interesting experimenting 😀
@rodsangleuk62832 жыл бұрын
Yes - I also like plain, pearly beads and do have some rigs incorporating them for plaice. Interesting to hear about using blue beads - I try them now and again for flounders; but haven't tried them for plaice - will have to give them a go!

Hi Mick. Bit slow on the uptake I'm afraid. Hadn't appreciated that you had injured you hand. Pleased to see that it is now in recovery but take it easy and don't overdo the fishing! Talking of which, what with your beach fishing and match fishing you must do (have done?) a lot of traveling. How has the increase in fuel prices impinged upon this? Great video...enjoyed it very much...and some lovely plaice as well. Oh, and by the way, congratulations on 5000 (as of now 5.16K) subscribers. Very well deserved. Here's to 7.5K and beyond!. Cheers. Ken
@rodsangleuk62832 жыл бұрын
Many thanks Ken - yes overdoing things does take its toll and yes I'm having to reduce my match fishing somewhat due to fuel prices and my hand playing up. Back to team fishing this weekend though and have sea fished a few times this week - just mustn't overdo it and be forced to have another lengthy break from it!
