Good Video. We are A Trias Shorei Ryu dojo, however we also learn and train with some of the original Okinawan Shorei Ryu elements as well. Thank you for sharing this video, alot of this also can be found on Wikipedia, and other sources. Always be cautious of many internet sources when it comes to the true history and lineage of certain systems, styles, or "ryus' of karate-do as some sources have become blended and mixed up and do not tend to be entirely accurate. and of course martial arts dates back to the beginning of time. Kara-te is just a word defining the term of empty hand. the word itself is fairly new but our "do" or way, of martial arts goes back much further. There should never be any judgement on what style or form of martial arts one trains. just train, train hard, and make it a life journey for you, never just a hobby or sport. Find a good Sensei, Saboom, Shifu, coach, or instructor that you feel comfortable with but yet uncomfortable enough to push you in your training. Learn your internal history of your dojo, dojang, gym, or school. Again thank you sir for taking the effort to make and publish this Film Shorei Ryu Karate Studios, Bradley Illinois

Hi! I'm an absolute beginner to Karate, but I feel incredibly inspired, and I've learned a lot from your videos! I was wondering if you'd consider making a video on your top Karate books for every practitioner to read? Thanks in advance, greetings from Sweden!

Hi, and welcome! I’m happy I can help you on your journey! The top books can be found on my beacons page, that’s in most descriptions for my videos, but I’m probably going to do one of those videos pretty soon to 👍

You are partly right. There is a Okinawan Wrestling method, that was combined and strongly influenced be chinese fighting methods. It is to the point where more and more Chinese influenced the Okinawan art to make Karate appear to be an Okinawan Version of Chinese arts. However in the underlying application is where the Okinawan arts are apparent.

Jim Kelly 1946-2013 was a Shorin-ryu Karate practitioner. So is Hawaiian Martial Artist Mike Stone.

I'm having trouble believing karate emerged from Okinawa. All the sources and names point to the combat techniques and even use of breathing back to the Chinese who then brought it overseas. Either way, I enjoy your videos.

Okinawa karate is definitely from China.
