Been paying attention to this a little. The handwashing flow pace seems sufficient and moving any faster imagine would negate the process. The funnel seems to mitre well although there may be some improvisions available in that arena. Good stuff👍

6:57 to 7:20 Shot is/was awesome! The slow motion was as well. Have you seen the concentrator cup in the Production model, it has a tapered section to a wider upper part of the cup, I have to think that the difference helps slow down the turning & helps let out the lights to keep the heavy particles. Nice idea with the pad, although I'm not sure it helps as the turning is closer to the spill. And I don't think that cut out is all that helpful either - playing with the distance between the funnel & the cup - I got to think makes a difference too.

Thanks for the comments. I HAVE added a few changes since the video. Added a lip to top of cup, among others.

Hello. Great video. You have stimulated my DIY interests. Question? What did you use for the white primary funnel. Thanks...........

Thats a good question. It was hard to find. It was larger than necessary and i had to mark it and cut it. Maybe a funnel for beer making??

I love your set up but your fluid bowl needs to be thicker and cut the miners moss on the bottom of the bucket to hold your bowl in the center.
@terrybirkholz2794
@terrybirkholz2794 Жыл бұрын
Ooh, I like that. I could just use thick miners moss on bottom of bucket with a hole sized for the bowl to keep it in place, and then skip the little 10 inch pan on the bottom. Good idea!

I have actually been thinking of a system quite like thát, with material in a bucket, allowed to flow over, and half-emptied every now and then, and with all the good stuff ending up by the bottom. But rather than how You do it, I'm thinking of having air pumped up through the bucket, either electrically or mechanically (< foot-pump for bike, or one of those for air-matresses). Your system is a bit more lightweight and portable, but I think that air going up through the material is more efficient, in terms of making the flow/separation happen.... - Hmmm, thinking about it, the (heavyish and bulky, and not particularly easy to trek with) pump can probably be avoided, if one have a highish placed feeder for water, that are led down through a thick (< low-drag) pipe to the bottom of the bucket with the material, by gravity, If the pipe has a bend by the bottom, then there will be a swirling flow, hmmm, but probably air will be more lively when going up through the material, so it is probably the better solution....? - Any way, very interesting, thanks for sharing....

What about just using water from the top, constant flow, with exit holes on the side about 4 inches from the bottom, and miners moss lining the bottom. You would have to hand empty the top layer quite a bit. Half the fun is dreaming this stuff up, i think.

I have a similar idea. Put the bucket in the creek with your similar setup and let the running water remove the light particals

Maybe, if you can. Some places, like where I am, do not allow that. It is too similar to sluicing.

You probably missed a great amount of gold by not having some type of suction device to clean out the deepest parts of the cracks or pits between the rocks.

@@fishmut A great idea, a regular sluice box can be a pain sometimes, even in a nice creek, but on a larger river, like the Klamath, it's dang near impossible... this would work great for sampling or even small scale production... I actually use something similar in our lode mill circuit...

I just figured it out from some other ideas I seen. It was not terribly hard to piece together. Hardest part was finding a funnel that size. Had to tape a couple funnels together to get perfect sizing. I will try and do a review of it in awhile. Thanks!

I use a 1/2 inch on the first one scooping paydirt, then I use a 1.8th inch on the funnel bucket. Tried 1/4 inch but it plugs the whole system up.

@@terrybirkholz2794 thankyou how do you treat the 1/8 to 1/2 inch sizes? Hope you are blessed with some nuggets. Your design is beautiful in compactness. Have you though about mechanical vibration to help flow? Best wishes

Strongly suggest you acquire a clip-on mic that is Bluetooth and sends crisp audio to your camera, need a wind screen, some are furry for windy times. Great video and great concept of creating a vortex in the bowl from the constriction of the funnel, had a similar setup conventionalized but not a cutout on the bucket and my dish was located below a inverted lamp shade, with the sieve on to. Run the smallest 12V bilge with switch for water. Here is something to help find the heavies associated with the deposition of gold, bring some bright flagging tap to mark your spots. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nJeuZa14q62Yp5o

The early metal detectors where BFO which picked up increased concentration of iron, if you found the iron, you find the paystreak. I wonder if modern detectors set on iron will pick up the black sands?
