This is incredibly well made. Everything is so alive, to the world, the characters, to the animation. It has this weird unsettling feeling at first but it drifts to this tale of wanting something so badly, you’ll do anything to get it. Sometimes it gets you hurt, other times it was worth it, like in this film, all their sacrifices were worth it in the end. They have their beautiful bean. The characters are fascinating. Especially the couple, how the mother really wants this while the father is there to support her, he wants this child too but when she starts crying he holds her in his arms and calms her. He’s probably hurt as well that they couldn’t get their child but he puts that aside for now to tend to his partner for life, his wife. Then walks in the rich couple, who even for a short awhile, struck every cord needed. They were lucky, they got it and had it and they simply left, the husband seemed uninterested like it was a chore and the wife seemed like the brains of the two, making the choices for both of them. It was simple for them because they had what was needed, money. For the mother and father though, they didn’t have that but they had love. Eachother and wanted this badly, that the father had an idea and the mother took his idea and ran with it, giving all they had until the judge was satisfied and they have their bean. Who compared to the other bean was very calm and chill while the other one just cried away. Someone else here said it best.. Just the concept is an interesting one at that, to pay in not just money but your own being to get what you want? A family? Through a judge no less, if felt like one of those guys from those shows where it takes place in a pawn shop, valuing if an item you brought in is actually worth a lot or not, it felt like this but in a more scarier way, he’s judging if they can buy their way to being parents, having them to sacrifice a lot to get it. In the end he did give them what they wanted, because it was only fair. They gave him all they had and he in turn gave them what they wanted, with the rich couple it was simple, clean quality coin? Boom, new neck and bean. I want to see more of this world, it’s so weirdly creepy yet cozy. I want to see what it’s like for the mother, the father and the bean. So much to say I might add later but I can’t believe I’ve seen this through a short on KZbin. So worth it to actually support those involved though. This was incredible!

Back in my day the only people who wanted to effectively genocide the lower class purely because they were poor were cartoonish over the top aristocrat villains in fiction. idk in another perspective it feels like you sacrificing everything you have for the child to be born- but you then live in poverty maybe not enough to provide for the child, the child then live in poverty also- when the child all grown up it will be the same cycle with his/ her partner. I'm happy they finally gets what they wanted - a child- but at the same time conflicted. Its warm but questionable- is the couple choices right? sometimes what you really2 want is not what you need.
