Short Circuit 1 and 2 are nothing short of creative masterpieces. Really under-appreciated. It’s impressive to get J5 looking this good in the 80s. Motions seem very genuine, not too janky and it’s just awesome.

There was apparently a few people required to control him (which makes sense, he's a complex robot) Bit it's just amazing that there was basically no automation at all, that it was just a group of people making him seek so lifelike Even though we can see he's a machine

I think it shows that the "hero" animatronic of No. 5 was built with little regard to cost. The first one came in at over $175,000...so you can adjust that for inflation.

Exactly. I watched Short Circuit and Short Circuit 2 a million times, hell I still watch them both a lot to this day! I just love those movies. The Character of Johnny Five, the design of the robot, the puppeter work, the charm these movies have. I love that it's all practical effects.

I'm British born with Indian roots. I NEVER had a problem with Fisher Stevens. He performed the role with respect and was so convincing I never realised he was played by a white actor until much later in life! Short Circuit is the best!

I will never tire if watching this movie! Except when he gets um, injuredem. I saw it with my dad right before he passed away. Now as an adult, I catch all kinds of little details I missed. I'm surprised they haven't brought him back! I never watched Chappie again though, because he gets attacked. For that era in movies, I thought it was well-done especially pulling in your heart strings with J5.

It's a great performance. also the performance of the robot, all the puppeters and Tim Blaney providing the voice and personality of Johnny Five really brings him to life and makes you believe he's really alive in the movie and forget he's being controlled by puppeters.
